Im trying to make my Qunari Mage the Dragon Age Version of Miley Cyrus. Unfortunately, I fear I can only make her a Maul wielder if she's a warrior. Does anyone know if we can be Arcane Warriors in DAI?
Cassandra: Inquistior! Stop licking your weapon!
Her: NEVER!
Cassandra: And put some clothes on!
Her: NEVER! I cant stop and I wont stop!

Cassandra: Inquistior! Enemies!

Her: I came in like a wrecking ball!  *smash with maul*

You lost me @ Miley Cyrus.

Then again, I'm an old fart who wonders why attention ****s keep getting the attention they need.

Because the amount of Celebrity Worship here is simply ungodly.

Don't know yet, there might be a melee mage specialization in DAI, from them saying mages can wear heavy armour though they weren't allowed to tell us why and someone asking them this in which they replied maybe in the crafting and customization one in between 20-34 minutes is where they mention both but it probably won't be Arcane Warrior from what Gaider said about the old ones.

I too really hope they bring back Arcane Warrior. I loved playing a dual-wielding Mage. Though I'd be happy if they'd allow you to wield a staff with a sword, or even just a dagger. I've always wanted my Mage to have the ability to backstab when being attacked by a melee attack without having to completely swap weapon sets. Or, I thought it'd be sick to have the ability that Hawke had in the DA2 trailer--the one where he made his arms appear in the sky and grab the Arishok. I was so hoping it'd be on one of the specialization trees when I first watched it.

I've asked this very question for them on twitter, so perhaps they'll answer it in their "ask us anything" videos that'll start coming out in less than two weeks.

If mages are only restricted to staffs I mean, I haven't asked them if we can make an exact copy of Miley Cyrus in-game.

Got a very weird vision that if someone manages to make hair and face mods for this, they will include Miley Cyrus features -___________-

I think I am the ONLY person who plays DA that doesn't want the arcane warrior ability. Why? I'm perfectly happy to play a Mage who uses magic. If I wanted to use weapons I'd be another class. (yea yea I know I am an old stick in the mud).

I always use Arcane Warrior with the Staves.

It would be nice if mages could have other options.

Why? If you want to use weapons why not be a warrior of rogue? I don't get the desire to have both.

I misspoke, I guess what I meant it what is the advantage of both? Spells do a tremendous amount of damage not to mention all the other things they do (heal, petrify, dispel etc) and Mage robes provide just as much protection (if not more) as armour without the fatigue factor?

No they don't. And they shouldn't.

http://dragonage.wik...Apostate's_Mask

Mage Mask with 123 Armour, Two rune slots,

http://dragonage.wik...non's_Vestments

Mage Robes with 307 Armous, 2 Rune slots

So with just these two items WITHOUT ANY rune bonus or other bonus they carry gives you a 430 Armour out the door.

All things being equal that equivalent to any armour..not better...but equivalent.

Makes me wonder why warriors don't wear robes.

The rogue and warrior gear in comparable gear (in this case the DLC items) will always have a better armor rating, and this is in DA2 where there is no fatigue penalty for wearing heavy armor. A lot of robes in the first game didn't even have an armor rating.

Why do mages have to be restricted to staves only? And thus have to confirm that old dusty stereotype? Why can't a mage just as well wear armour or wield a magical sword?
