I've experienced random crashing, gpf errors, random freezing issues for as long as I've had this game(got from steam) and since the latest patch i've had to deal with sound problems. The sound goes in and out, or it stutters and doesnt play correctly or the sound effects or background music wil suddenly become super loud. Does anyone know if there is a new patch that will address any of these issues ever?  does anyone know of work arounds that work as of the latest patch?

Specs:
Windows Xp Pro 32bit
4GB RAM
ATI HD 3670 1GB
Dual core 2.6ghz

Honestly the worst thing about this is that I've contacted support, sent them game logs and dixdiag but have not heard back from Bioware or from EA. I really want to enjoy Mass Effect but I dont think I can and I'm not sure I can continue to support Bioware if this is what thier customer service has become.

Have you tried checking for file errors (either by using the digital error checker provided or reinstalling if retail)?

I also have yet to be contacted by EA/BioWare

Getting fed up with it all actually... All I can do is stop supporting them. I guess that'll be moot to them tho.

Join the club. All I got was a useless automated response from EA, and then days later a survey invitation to tell them what I thought. I've bought every Bioware/Black Isle/Obsidian game since the very beginning. Since Mass Effect (a good idea ruined by abysmal support) and Dragon Age (ditto), this customer has ended the relationship. Almost as badly as Ubisoft. (Anyone remember what happened with Pool of Radiance?!)

I have the steam version and I've tried uninstalling the game, defragging my hard drive, reinstalling the game and using the steam tool to check if any files are damaged. None of it has worked.
