How is Fiona's.. Uh. Taint cleansing not logical? Merrill used unknown demon instructed blood magic to cleanse a tainted mirror. But Fiona can't be cleansed through some malfunction of unknown super-powerful Darkspawn magic?

I'd say more plot holes.

None of the many Keepers over hte course of hunderds fo years knew how to remove the taint, the magisters don't know how to remove the taint -  but Merril does???

The same reason why she, a Grey Warden, was allowed to become the Grand Enchanter and thus screwing the Warden's neutrality. She's a writers pet.

Also she probably caused the whole Inquisition attacking the Warden's thing due to her stupidity as well as kicking off the Mage-vs-Templar War.

She left the Wardens when her taint was cured genius.

When somebody is conscripted by the grey wardens, he/she can leave the order only when dead. Ask Jory about it, genius.

Why don't I ask this guy instead?

So, of all the characters we met, Fiona is the authors pet?

Fiona is a weird case, because it seems like the taint was sped up first, and she almost became (or actually did) become the sort of ghoul GWs become after being ravaged by the taint. It was only after something happened - in the Fade, I believe - that cured from that state that led to her being cured.

It's been so long since I read the book, and my memory isn't that great, but I always thought her taint cure had something to do with her getting pregnant.

Other than Zathrian, not many Keepers used blood magic either.

And people who can't understand that Anders is in fact a grey character, confirmed by writers themselves, confuse me more than... well anything.

I am tried of linking people to what David Gaider said, I even made a thread about it, so laugh all you want and feel free to have any opinion you want. Anders being a gray character remains as a fact.

Writer intentions are fine and he might have very well started out as a grey character, but by the end DA2 makes him cross the line into full on extremist territory. On account of the possessed crazy side of him but still.

Even still though, the writer intending a character to be grey is somewhat irrelevant. It's how the gamers perceive the end result that matters.

What the author says is irrelevant if the portrayal comes off one sided

Sten: No

Mentally ustable? debatable.

He tried to kill Ella claiming she is with the Templar because she called him a demon.

Self righteous?

He claimed to speak for all mages with his declaration of war.

Cannibal? lol what.

Remember the partially consumed Grey Warden corpses?

Hypocritical?

He supported Fenris being reenslaved while he accuses CM of being slaves.

Abomination? Maybe, maybe be not. All abomination we saw before Anders killed everything on sight and were out of control. Anders falls in love, heals and saves people's lives etc... What sort of abomination does that?

The same one who has uncontrollable fits of rage, supports slavery and instigates war?

See? He is grey. Willing to do black deeds to achieve a greater white.

There can be no peace. - Anders

That's some greater white right there.

Ok, an abomination is defined by any mage being possessed by a demon or a spirit. Even Wynne, who had clearly had her sh*t together more than Anders, was an abomination as well.

She removed it from an object, not a person. And she was instructed in doing so by a demon that had been trapped on the mortal plane since the fall of Arlathan.

Struck me as a joke as Fenris and Anders can't stand each other.

@everyone who commented about Anders. Can't quote all of you.

Deny it all you want. Its your opinion. Loghain left thousands to die in fear of none existent attack from Orlais and he is a grey character yet many think he is outright black. They have free will and therefore can have opinions . But when a person creates a new world whole different than ours and creates a grey character in it and confirm he is grey it means indeed he is. The concept Human rights doesn't exist in Thedas, how do you think anything else can be a concept in Thedas?

Anders does things considered black but he also does things considered white. Its as simple as this. You have every right to think he is insane, evil etc... no one is stopping you, hence you can kill him. But he is a grey character, he is created in a world where its rules and principals are also created by the same person. If he (DG) think this character is grey then without a doubt he is. He is a grey character who half the players see as black, so what? does that makes him any less grey? Absolutely not. DG also mentions Anders was meant to create a lot of reaction from players and I'd say it was very successful.

There's a short story that details Anders escape from the Wardens after they discover he's an abomination.

Like rape, it's a poor joke to make when they don't like each other when considering Fenris' past, combined with Anders accusation of the CoM being slaves.

Here.

Intresting.

@Hierophant
It's not like Fenris pulls his punches with Anders or other mages much either. Don't get me wrong I do feel Anders is often hypocrictical, I just don't feel that exchange is a particualy good example of it.

It doesn't matter if Fenris and Anders hate each other, or Fenris is anti-mage. Anders is clearly anti-slavery. Supporting the selling of a person to a slaver is hypocricy, in my opinion.

What is so hard to get I don't understand. If you take Fenris to the gallows for the 1st time and Anders is with you too they will fight. Anders will say that its slavery to lock up mages while Fenris approves that mages should be locked up. So Anders want to inflict slavery on Fenris for approving of circles and in his opinion slavery of mages. I'm not saying its justified, but this is probably the main reason Anders approves of selling Fenris to Danarius. Fenris is hypocrite for wanting to be free of slavery but wanting it or at least something very similar for other people (mages). Anders is also a hypocrite for approving of making Fenris a slave again but he is doing it in regard to Fenris' open approval of circle and Meredith's methods, most important Meredith methods. In banter Fenris openly approves of Meredith's methods. Anders is not selling Fenris, he is having an opinion on the matter. Its you who is selling Fenris to Slavery.

True but Anders making light of slavery when he compares circle mages to slaves is still off putting.

Given how Anders is in DA2, he's probably serious
