Im playing nwn2 on windows 7, bought the platinum edition off of steam it says im running version 1.023 (1765) final. So when act 2 started there was no cut scene at all(I think there mightve been a cut scene between lord nasher and torio but i dont remember). It put me in the flagon but with no diaglogue, no quests(aside from companion quests), and no where to go.

Im not too torn up about it, i just wanted to post the bug here. I think I know what caused the issue. Ive been avoiding the scene where Qara fights those two annoying girls, because I dont like her, or shandra jerro. Theres a little alleyway you can cut through and avoid the scene completely:bandit:.

At the start of act 2 it put Qara in my party anyways but I guess it broke the game because when I leave the flagon Duncan is chillin outside and Qara is still standing there with those two mages. fun pictures ahead:

Sir Navelle just stands there he wont talk to me:

Qara talking to herself:

At the end of the conversation Qara walks into the inn and this is what happens when you select her before she enters:

literrally it is the sunken flagon:

Sand for no apparent reason is perpetually stoneskinned and he wont say a word to me:

This is what the map shows, if I leave neverwinter I cant go back, the only thing I can do is go to the dwarven scouts but Ive tried everything and cant trigger the next event in the main story:

Well, there's definitely a problem, but there are a couple of things that are not related to that. That stoneskinned Sand is actually an elemental in Sand's shape that he leaves to run the shop after he joins your party, whether he's in your party or hanging out at the Sunken Flagon. I'm assuming that in your bugged game, Sand is not actually in your party.

The literal "sunken" Flagon in your pictures is an unrelated bug that occasionally happens when you attempt to do an area transition with someone other than your main character. I think it depends on which script is being used for the transition. It shouldn't matter which character you use, but sometimes it causes that bug.

<3 for the responses. so the bug may not even be related to me dodging Qara? it could be something else completely?

maybe. dodging Qara's not a good move :^)

some of the things w/ Sand & Nevalle are related to it, iirc

but there's also *it seems* an issue on postXP operating systems esp. where the globals file may not get written to disc reliably, depending on UserAccount settings -- and as you can imagine that would lead to multiple borks, including the same symptoms like evading Qara

Well, I wasn't saying that dodging Qara didn't cause anything. Just that the Stoneskinned Sand is something that should happen later, and the other thing is something that you'll probably encounter now and then.

The overall problem does have some of the same kind of elements as that pesky permissions bug, though no one has reported this particular set of circumstances here to my knowledge, which could be because no one has succeeded in avoiding Qara before. She is a plot-required character, and not having her cutscene fire no doubt causes all kinds of necessary variables not to be set, so the number one thing you should do is reload a past save and meet her normally. If that doesn't fix it, then you can look into the permissions fixes.
