Would you be alright with romancing a Turian or Drell female in a future ME game, if the Turian female looked like Nyreen and a Drell female was breastless (Drell women do not have breasts it seems) but feminine?

*I have seen comments where male players have said bring it on BW we can handle it, but I have seen others who have said no thank you it has to look somewhat human.

I am hoping it will be done!:)

Hey, if Garrus ain't gonna tap dat...

Image IPB

Giggity giggity gig-gi-ty.

Seriously though, in the next game I'd hope there are more straight options for female players. Lots of people have said they were disappointed by that. To my understanding, they originally excluded Tali because of (in Hudson's words) "dog legs." And I'm pretty sure Garrus' popularity caught them completely off guard. I think it really depends on the characters they write.

Lol, we don't even know if they'll still keep the old aliens. For all we know, the new Mass Effect universe might be based on a whole new set of aliens in which I wouldn't really agree to that. They can add other aliens but I really do hope they keep the old aliens.

I really want a Krogan Romance for my female protagonist!

Speaking as a straight human male, I happened to think that the overall best done romance in the game was FemShep/Garrus. If BW creates an alien female that is just as compelling (Nyreen almost made the threshold for me in her brief existence), I'm sure that there will be others like me who will not be put off.

Considering how many people liked Tali without seeing her face.. I would agree its all in the writing of the character, not so much the looks.

Still disappointed there was no Wrex Romance for FemShep. One of the things I'll never forgive Bioware for! D-:<

By the time BW might have considered making Wrex a romanceable option, his story was already written as the "father of the new Krogan race".  I doubt most FemSheps would be willing to share their man like THAT.

ME3 ruined it all! It all could've happened pre-ME3.

Male players aren't the only ones who choose female romance options, OP.

My title (for male players) is confusing; I want male player opinions. What I want to know is if male players are alright with a female alien (non-human looking) as a romance.

I'm not interested personally, but I do like options. There's all kinds of players. The more ways to appeal, the better. That goes for diversity in human characters too though.

It doesn't matter really as long as its written well, deep AND offers a friendship option if you are not interested. The romancing plots in ME1 were plain bad, ME2 better and in ME3 they were passable, but nowhere near the level "really good". And, if you shot down one romanctic plot, it became quite silly, since the burned one wouldn't talk to you any longer. Even DAO handled that better.

IMHO romances are of secondary interest to social interaction no matter what the aim or status of the relationship was. The bromance and very good and many interactions male Shep could have with Garrus were great, but I would have liked more, not only with him but with everybody else too.

Oh, and before I forget, the banter between squad mates on the Normandy and during missions in ME3 were damn fantastic. Just the fact that people wandered around their own stations was great (but why didn't Allers spend more time poking around the ship?).

Wrex's story was laid out by the time ME2 was written.

To be honest I'd rather they made the main protag female by default for a change.
That would be something good to see.

Are you sure it wasn't the suit? I mean, as Kenneth notes, it is snug in all the right places. ;)

that would be cool, definitely help the series in multiple ways.

and I want the original aliens to stay!

as far as having more alien romance options...I would say yes. I have always found alien characters (of both sexes) more appealing than the human characters, but that could have been because they were just written better than the human characters.

I hope they just throw their old rule book out the window and add a bi option for every romanceable character. It's both a good way to make everyone happy and extend the life of the game.

No. I wish they'd approach it the same way they did in ME1. With a little more seriousness and believability. You know, before they caved in to creepy fanboy requests. Fan service is a detriment to creativity in any medium. I'm sorry, but Tali and Garrus should drop dead shortly after insertion. Speaking of insertion, how convenient that cosmic events have blessed humanity by making completely alien genitalia combatable with our own. What's next, we gonna have the option to have a guys-night-out, and bring all the male squaddies out to the "Krogan-Show"?

Not male here but I think they should have inter-species liasons available to male and female.

Come on. Tell me you wouldn't want to see the Krogan pole dancer gif turned into an actual game character.

Great, now I'm reminded of that "kinky kelly" scene in clerks 2....

I'd call the suit fanservice if I was sure Bio didn't just do that look from force of habit.

Matt Rhodes talks about Tali some on his blog. Would Tali have been romanceable if she looked like this?:

I still can't bring myself to do the Garrus romance.

There is that Fornax rag you can buy on Omega. Apparently some individuals find inter-species relations erotic.

People liked Tali without seeing her face because from the knees to the neck she had a sexy body, and people just head canon'd something equally attractive under the mask. Just look at every piece of fanart ever made for unmasked Tali. About 95% are attractive. Had Tali looked as alien as say, the Salarians, most fans would have raged and/or switched to another LI.

To be clear I'm not picking on Talimancers for having appearance be one of the determining factors for who their player character ends up. That's probably true for most players. And its true for me.

On that note, I would not have the ME4 protagonist romance a Krogan, or a Salarian, or a Turian, ect. No matter how great the characters are I think all of the above species are a little too alien-looking, to the point that a romance arc with a human character becomes a little weird. An Asari or a Quarian would at this point probably be the only options I would consider for a human protagonist, as they both have enough human features that the attraction between the characters makes some sense.

Now if the protagonist was say a Turian...that would be different. In that case it would make more sense for the Turian to shack up with another Turian character.
