Although the Rose's thorn is like 145 Golds. Also if you have Sten in your party get the Ageless Sword.

I almost always do Redcliffe and therefore the Broken Circle early because I want to make certain party members who shall remain unnamed happy. The first time I played through I went to help the Elves after that, this play through I played through Orzammar first. I think I like it this way better. I've got my full party going into the forest and I'll get to know Ogrhen a little better.
Schwinni makes a really good point about the money too, but I never have money problems by the end of the game.

I've done the Mage Quest now, and plan to do some side quests before heading back into the Deep Roads to head out to the Anvil of the Void. The only drawback is that Oghren won't really talk to you until you finish with the Anvil Quest. He'll still interject in cutscenes though.

I hit Orzommar (just to first Deep Raods Section), Circle Magi, then Redcliffe (which was surprisingly a breeze).

Just make sure you have Shale with you when you go. That way, you'll be able to get all of Shale's quest stuff in order.

SPOILERS
The Broodmother and Corrupted Spider Queen fights are really really hard. And the golem fight at the end can be kinda tough as well. Thats not even mentioning that Orzammar includes the hardest darkspawn fights in the game too.

Even though "The Fade" is one of the most annoying areas in the game for me personally, I always do "Broken Circle" first just because of the permanent stat bonuses you can gain while in the Fade. There's got to be at least sixteen or so objects which increase your stats by +1 each. Defintely worth the annoyance if you hate The Fade like I do and it will make further exploration/combat much, much easier.
There are 21 stat bonuses in the fade, actually.

1. Lothering
2. Maybe a short detour to Frostback Mountains to buy Knight Commander Armour
3. Circle Tower (Fade bonuses - +21 btw. and Wynne FTW! - plus I really love the Fade section)
4. DLC
5. Redcliffe
6. Urn
7. Whatever I feel like
That way I get access to most of the good stuff as early in the game, as possible.

I suppse one could argue that its useful to do Orzammar prior to Redcliffe/Urn for Ohgren, but I think it is worth having the uber dragon armor early instead of having Ohgren, who is not really different from Sten.

Personally, I usually do the major quests in the order I think makes most sense for the RP/Story aspect of the game. I always go to the Circle Tower first, because in Lothering we find out that the Circle is in trouble when we talk to Ser Bryant -- that seems more immediate than a sick arl. After the Circle Tower, I go wherever seems most relevant to my PC -- I'll go to Orzammar if I'm a dwarf, the Brecillian Forest if I'm a Dalish elf or an elven mage, or Redcliffe if I'm human.
As for where you "should" go from a combat/gameplay/strategy standpoint, Orzammar is the longest, most tedious of the major quests, and is technically speaking the hardest. It's my least favorite, personally, as far as the major quests are concerned -- for reasons that are irrelevent to you -- but I don't think you'll have too many difficulty issues with Orzammar if you're patient enough to work your way through it. Being at a lower level when you go there will actually net you higher XP when felling enemies, so you might find that you've leveled up a couple of times (maybe even several times if you do EVERYTHING there is to do in Orzammar) before you leave.

Your first treaty should always be the Circle for the stats. Then do DLC to get Shale. Then Redcliffe to open up the Urn. Next do the Urn to open up the possibility to get dragon armor. Then Orzammar to get Ohgren. Then Brecilian Forest.
You don't have to do Redcliffe to open up the Urn. All you have to do is go to Brother Genetivi's house in Denerim. You can do the Urn first if you like.

I'm thinking I might do this after Lothering:
1.Circle tower
2.Pick up Zevran and Shale
3.Orzammar.
This way I won't be more than 10-12th level and I'll have Yusaris from the mage tower for Oghren when I get him. (not to mention the stat boost for my PC.) Might skip Shale though, I don't really plan to have her in my party, mostly just want a couple of the items from that DLC.
Any input or thoughts?
