They are going off a comment made in 2012 so perhaps not too reliable.

I would guess 2015 at the earliest. I don't think BioWare would want Dragon Age: Inquisition and the next Mass Effect to be released too closely to each other. BioWare should take their time and not rush it.

Nice. If true, lets just hope it isn't rushed this time.

EA likely wouldn't want another "BF4" fiasco, they'll give it time...

Would seriously doubt next ME game in q4 '04 or q1 of '15. Maybe q4 of 2015 at earliest. Anything sooner and I will have serious doubts as to the quality of game.

I wonder how many times I've heard that one before.

3 years of development (from prototyping to end product) isn't enough for you? You want 4?

if it means the biggest (in terms of content), bestest Mass Effect to date, I'd love a later release

I want them to properly balance time spent making the game perfect, without it turning into a duke nukem... Im hoping for Autumn 2015

As I said in the Twitter thread, I'm going for March 2015 with the possibility of a delay until later in the year if the devs feel they need some more time to polish it. They don't need until 2016 with the number of people and funding they have.

It really depends on what they have doing, since they are swapping to Frostbite it could easily take four years depending on how much customization it will require to work the way they want it to.

I'd say this has less with the date to do than how long it has been in development. I would of course like a game ASAP, but the longer it is in development, the better (I hope) it will be.

But I won't play it until a couple of months after release anyway so that there's time to release patches and stuff that might be needed (you people are my very own test pilots. Suck it up). I never experienced the original ending of ME3 so I never got what was wrong until well after the EC was released. So for that I thank everyone who jumped straight into the unedited, original and buggy ME3.

I doubt it's scheduled to be released as late as most people are suggesting here. You've all heard the confirmed news that ME4 had been playable as of December 2013(and that is the latest, it may very well had reached the playable state even before that date). Judging by the devs' comments, they weren't playing a soulless, textureless, mute game, they were actually playing something that gives a good taste of the final product. With that being said, I'm guessing it will be announced on this year's E3, and the release timeframe window will stay true to the 2012 prediction. I.e. Christmas 2014 - Easter 2015, not later.

Certainly hope not. Being released in 2014 means it will be a rushed out the door product with about 8 hours of content in a cash grab attempt to earn extra dough based on its title alone.

I think Xmas 2015 to early 2016 is a much more likely scenario.

Take the time to get it right BW..... I know at some point you'll need to put it to the market to recoup what you invested in the game but still......

Don't hurry on my account. Just focus on making it a Bioware title worthy of sitting in your back catalogue.

*Edit If it's a COD shooter wannabe I'm not talking to you till next Christmas. I prefer more Bioware slanted RPG in my Bioware titles.

I don't know what to think about the possible release date, but that website doesn't strike me as very convincing - both due to what Malanek990 pointed out, and its claim that the source was Mike Gamble, which the Eurogamer article clearly states was not the case after all. In short, I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.

I doubt it was the entire game - or even the majority of it - that the developers could play at home. Probably just a couple of worlds at most.

That still means that most of the core programming is done. The engine must be at least stable, by that point, if not something close to its final form. That would leave level design and execution as the last major part of the game still left--possibly some character concepting too, and whatever multiplayer experience they're working on is probably still in heavy dev, but still. Playable is a serious acheivement in the development of any video game.

It really depends on what they mean by "playable" for they have been working with the Dragon Age Inquisition team learning how to work the system so I would expect the core engine to be nearly complete, but what is left for the imagination is how much secondary functions are left to do.

Considering it's already in a playable state, I'd guess Q1 2015. I also found this:

Read the first guy's post in the comments below.

If this is true, I'd say all they need is another 11-12 months of development.
