The $50 is irrelevant; he would not outscore me - especially if he's playing in the box.  My typical plat Rio games end with me from 250 - 300K.  2nd is usually around 75-100 and 3rd and 4th under 50K

If it's a troll, then well played.

That would be very unwise. I'm going up against a pro.

I believe you dropped into my lobby the other night with your AIU. Good game.

Use a infinite ammo gun, then you can LOL at his attempts to lock you up.

Jams only occur if a reload animation gets interrupted, if memory serves.

That PPR TSent mentioned earlier by Kislitsin should do the job.

I love how this thread is bringing out all the box-camping PUGs.  It's like an old FBWGG thread.

Surprisingly, I never run into this on PS3 Plat PUGs.  However, I've run into the same jackass doing it on Gold multiple times.  He takes his Demolisher down there, jacks up spawns, chunks grenandes blindly, rarely helps with objectives, doesn't gel and fails if left on his own.  Annoying as hell.

It's a really stupid farm setup: Bad/hard objects, games take too long and learning to play platinum by hiding in a box is just wrong. Whenever I land into these preset rio/reapers/platinum lobbies I leave.

And as was said, for farming Giant is way better.

I very much agree that giant is a better map for platinum farming than rio; in fact giant was my default map for platinum farming.

For giant all you need is a good jugg player to take point near the LZ and the rest to hang around nearby with high damaging weapons/abilities e.g. flamer. It’s preferable to have an infiltrator with 10 second cloak to do any device objectives that come up.

You don't need a Jugg.  Giant worked long before the Jugg was released.  Giant is easy because it has a built-in choke point where you are protected from long-distance fire (Primes, Ravagers, etc).  It also has an ammo box and an escape path if you get swarmed.

All you need is DPS.  The DPS shall set you free.

That kind of grinding is not my idea of fun. It's not about the goal, t's about the journey for me. People who play firebase rio just want an easy (maybe safe?) way to make credits, which is fine. I'm not gonna sit here and look down on them for playing in the way they want to, but that's not how I want to spend my time.

So I think I'll just continue to play on gold. It's basically the perfect porridge, so to speak, in terms of multiplayer experience: the amount of credits you receive, diversity of maps/enemies, varieties of characters, reliability of teammates, dependence on equipment, etc. It's not too hot, nor too cold, but just right.

I think this is a perfectly reasonable outlook.  If you're having fun on Gold, consistently end up in Rio farming games when you try Plat, and aren't concerned about maxing your manifest, then there's no real need for you to move beyond Gold.  Based on my experience reading posts here, I'd say even a lot of experienced and skilled players still tend to prefer Gold.  Boss spam isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Farming= Glacier or Giant/Hazard Giant [quote]

This. I have much faster games on Glacier or Giant in Platinum even with lower level N7's or mostly Puggernaught lobbies. If you must farm, those are the best maps to farm on. I'd also say Jade, with 2 players at the bottom of the map on the left and 2 at the top on the right. You only need to worry about DPS.

My advice? Don't farm. Just play the game and enjoy yourself.

My farming strategy is to play Glacier as a Krolord against Geth on gold. Doesn't work as well on Platinum though as they throw another enemy into the mix and I don't like being grabbed. Other than that, I've only done Giant farming but not Rio.

Rio does make Platinum a lot easier even without the box of shame because its a pretty straight line of sight. You could hold the extraction area if you wanted to and get great results too but imo the back area by the box of shame is a lot better.

If you have people camping the box, camp in the corner across from the LZ. It forces the enemies to primarily spawn in the generator area right next to the box.

I've done a Platinum Firebase Ghost once, with two Jugs with shield rep/flamthrower pups, a volus engineer, and a Adept, and we snuck back into the first floor room, put up our Hex Shields and Recon Mine and we ROCKED!

I usually get a friend to do it with me, that way in case something goes wrong, it'll still be a 25ish-minute match.

I've never understood why pugs like to play on this map or why they think it is the easiest map. It's a huge map and the games can sometimes drag on. The objectives take a very long time if it's an escort or object delivery. It's also not very fun.

My farming method is play U/U/P with IxMerc 04 and breeze through sub-25 games.
