I haven't played ME since I redid my computer. I had thought I backed up my old save game but it turns out I didn't. I'm wondering if some of the bigger choices in the first game (spoiler: saving the council or not) can be continuous into ME2 without a savegame?

For example: Without a save game your asked at some point on weather you saved the council or let them die, thus having c ontinuity within the story without needing a save game. Or, without one the game auto-selects the answer for you and it may very well be opposite to what you did in the game.

I mean, I suppose I could power through the game in 5 and a half days just to have a savegame to move over to ME2, but without a save can continuity choices still be accurately represented?

Yes, there will be a quiz (no, literally).

The biggest decisions you can change. However, it's best if you play through ME1 and get a savegame to bring in.

Well I'll have to do so after my first play through. It's good to know there's a quiz to start with the big things. :)

im downloading the original game from the ea store right now to do a speed run through it by the 26th. its only $10 and it gives me something to do while waiting for me2 to be released. eh there should be a quiz though or something like what kotor 2 did.

Actually I think the quiz is only used to lock in smaller things. Afaik not importing a character results in the council dying, as well as a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head.

Listening to the UncleGamer interview indicated otherwise. Casey actually used the council as an indication of what the questions would deal with. He did say however that alot of the smaller stuff would be left out and seemed to indicate that when in doubt the game will assume certain characters were never encountered or were killed (no wrex cameo for non ME1 players then i guess)

Think I might just have to go listen to that interview, thanks for the info.
