That's a lot of course, but you asked...
Anything you do is welcome. The destroyed walls would be my pick if you were only doing one, I'm tired of the same ol' ruins.

Thanks. No problem.

Those walls do have some rebar sticking out, so they might need a little modification.

Here's a few placeables ported from the High Priestess CCC: a ceremonial cloak by Jez, swan bath by Jez, rich desk by Morikhan, and kneeler/prayer book from JFK/Frith5. The cloak and kneeler are tintable. They all look pretty decent, I think.

I just saw vault 2 has a large collection of flat and semi rolled maps. Would that be an easy project for a noob to this conversion?

I like those, particularly the kneeler.

It should be. You might just give it a try and see if you can import some of the files. Some file conversion may be needed, so I'd take a look at the import mdl tutorial.
For the NWN models, the objects are already built so most of what I've been doing is converting the images over for NWN2 use, and making some of them tintable. In some cases I've been merging model parts together when they share the same image file, making parts use shadowing where needed, fixing any issues, then adding the collision meshes and a walk mesh. But for simple maps you shouldn't need to do any of that.

Just be sure to always make mipmaps for the textures when you convert them, PJ, for the sake of optimising performance.

I've been using the gimp-dds plugin for that. It works very nicely.

I will look at that when I come to play with the models.

Unfortunately the walls don't look very suitable in closeup--basically modern concrete and rebar construction with all plumb square faces and sharp corners. Plus the Blender .obj import script appears to be messing up the texture mapping. It doesn't look to be worth the bother. Sorry.

If it weren't for the other things, I'd say that a good texture can disguise the sharp corners, creating an illusion of a bevel (ideally a rough, irregular bevel, especially in the case of ruins). Most low-poly game models have been done that way, though that may be a fading art with modern games using actual geometry for things like that.

Well I managed to get one of the opengameart models converted. Here's the ruins entrance by kittyoverdrive. It looks, mmm... decent. Probably need to scale it up a little

Took a break from tileset work to do some ports from the OGA site. I was unsuccessful as often as not, but I managed to get a few decent quality models converted:

Pretty mundane stuff really, but I find that's usually the most useful. Here's a pair of models I converted to OM placeables:

Good for eye candy, at any rate. ![]()

Ah, it's the Dark Portal from World of Warcraft.

Yes, there's a lot of pretty nice models on that site. Much of it has a modern theme, but I see some medieval buildings in there. Unfortunately, many of the better models have a 'personal use only' license.

These are the ones I found that looked like they could fit in nwn2.
A collection of precious tomes arcane--in both their open and sealed editions--ranging in subject matter from the wondrous and elemental to a darkness most vile and heinous.

I scaled the models down quite a bit from the original, and shrank the textures accordingly so they match the size and resolution of other books in the toolset. The original textures were huge for their actual purpose: 1024^2 and 2048^2.

I added an attachment point, so the portal can now accomodate a door (with a glowing window):

And of course the stairs are walkable:

It looks like the little bowls at the bottom of the statues could use an inner surface.

That's right Bob. I also need to widen the door at the top, and probably change the way to have the window glowing (when you open the door, the texture of the window stays in the opening... Well, instead of a door_name_G mesh, I'll make a self-illumination texture. Unfortunately, the window will not be translucent any more).

I'm finding some amazing models on the Blender swap site, which are mostly licensed as CC. Think I'll try porting a few from there and see how well it works out.

Not sure if you know, but those little bowls are supposed to be giant braziers. The whole thing is supposed to be large enough to march an army through, so I have some serious visual confusion when I see a wooden door placed in it. I know the idea is to repurpose it, but this is an extremely iconic portal.

Only if you played WoW. I didn't, so it just looked like a nice placeable.
