I remember back when I grew up, if I did something wrong my mother would usually slap me or hit me with her shoe (or throw it) and it worked, well mostly (boys will be boys after all). But one thing was for sure, I'd never dream of saying "Shut up ****" to my mother like I sometimes see kids do in the supermarket. It's the same in school, back in the day it was the pupils that had to be accountable why they failed their classes and God help them if they acted wild. Now with all the fake ADHD (the guy who diagnosed it, admitted it was a crock of ****) and teachers having to wear silk gloves and be super caring towards the pupils, there's almost no respect in the classroom either.

Physical punishment doesn't mean beating someone half to death, but a light spank or slap. So what do you lot think?

Yes.

I had a couple of kids (highschoolers) today hit me with a book bag full of books then try to walk off like badasses. I treated them as if there where 5 and made him walk back and pick it up. It was on me feet. They where not used to being confronted by someone.

I think hitting is stupid, and doesn't actually teach a lesson. Consequences should be tied in a more realistic way. Like, say, punishment for not studying is doing absolutely horrible, unsatisfying work that's exhausting and yucky with constant reminders that this will be your future forever if you don't study.

I remember my brother got hit with umbrella and got chased by it when i told my mom he's smoking, he's 12 at that time. Yeah, i was bad that time being mama's pet.... Now me and my brother both are smokers, My brother never forgive me for what i did 25 years ago....But up to today we never smoke in front of our parent, even as adult, never.... Not like kids today smoking with their parents or in front of their parents. We feel that is weird.

I got slapped by my mom and got slashed by my late father, as well my bro and sis when we did something wrong. We never hate our parents. We never do bad in front of them. In fact we have like criminal contract with each other. We will cover up our crimes no matter who did it and we did our best not to trouble the family. Our crime is our own, but bro and sis will always back up. So, when school or college sent letters about our crimes to home, we will fetch them for each other's behalf before our parent know....

My parents never taught us directly to respect elders, but they do teach us how to respond to elders, how to act in someone's home, how to behave, the customs, the tradition and so on by examples, their examples...we live with that up to now. I can't stand kiddies talk **** to older peoples or disrespect. I remember slapping my friend's little brother because he disrespect me...

I remember this being asked in my secondary school once. I believe the responses they got were along the lines of "if a teacher hit me i would hit that ****** with a chair." Yeah I don't think bringing back physical punishment is a good idea.

it's a constant ebb and flow, one generation's hedonistic leniency transitions into another generation's puritanical intolerance

Yes. Rude Kids need some spanking.

For calm but un-commandable kids, a slap every few months might work.

Perfect kids are those who listen, learn and obey when their (good) parents tell them something. I don't want to go to the bad parents direction.

Or the kids will end up as rebels, unhealthy or complete losers.

Talk is cheap and kids love talking. I believe that if physical punishment was brought back those kids would shut up pretty fast.

i remember having a fight with my late father, i rise my voice...but up to today, i always remember it and i feel bad about it, i shouldn't do it...that is the only time i raise my voice...yes, among my siblings, i am the rebellious one..despite my innocent look i do a lot of crimes than my bro and sis...but still i am my parent pet, maybe i have some charm that makes them don't mind much of my crimes unlike my other siblings...

In school, i always fought the teachers, i don't like school, i don't like rules...i also involve in school fights, never finish my home works, going somewhere in school time, smoking in toilet, i almost got dismissed from school....again my innocent look make me pass every time, i totally abuse and manipulate my innocent look. peoples won't believe what i did....

It's always the innocent looking ones that are the bad boys/girls.

Wow someone really made that joke with Qistina of all people. This thread alone in its short existence is more cruel than any punishment given to a child.

It's funny. I have no opinion on this. Why should we always have an opinion about everything ?

Yes, some kids deserve a beating. Fear to pain is one of the only things that those creatures understand.

No. You can't possibly understand what you have done. May Odin have mercy on your pitiful, mortal soul.
