For another I would love to see spears. I have resigned myself to the class restricted weapons until I see definite proof that it has been removed, but something other than plain staves would be nice for mages. I think spears would fill this role perfectly. They could have different bonuses than staves. Perhaps stave give larger bonuses to magic and ranged damage, while spears do more damage while actually hitting someone and maybe have an aoe hit area like two handed weapons for warriors. It would satisfy my need for a close quarters combat mage and my love for spears.

so not golem but rock wraith;)Filament wrote...
I think having a golem with some profane qualities would be cool as a companion class. By profane qualities I mean, they have the ability to morph their body into different shapes to attack with, like a shield and flail, or a giant bowling ball, etc.

if you have a knight in heavy plate armor you can use any kind of weapon but only dagger is able to kill him and still you are able to kill him with axe in Dragon AgeMirrman70 wrote...
Whips are incredibly stupid. If you have a dude clad head to toe in metal you aren't going to do **** to him with a whip. they are jokes. I mean they were mostly used for animals or slaves amd were never really practical weapons.

Weapon Wise I'd say
Return Crossbows, maybe as warrior spec
Give Mages an Alternate weapon such as maybe Channeling Gloves or Pure Elemental Weapons

no, blunt weapons work well, they break bones

and some axes had a spike on the opposite side of the blade that could be used to pierce the metal. the only weapons that really failed against full plate were the ones that could severely dent the armor ,pierce it in places or easily reach the less armored parts.
and the rest is on end of that video so its nonsense to try to pierce through plate armour

whips wouldn't be able to do any of this and thus would be stupid weapon choices. and it isn't that hard of stretch to say that whips would be to unrealistic even in the dragon age universe. people can recieve like 30+ lashes from a whip and still live whereas someone hits 30+ times with a sword/axe/mace you will probably die.
do you really thing someone would be able to survive 30 hits with that
Mirrman70 wrote...
A whip would have to either be wrapped around someones neck or hit them precisely in a major weak spot to kill them QUICKLY, as well as it would be really hard for someone to wrap the whip around someones neck AND have it stay wrapped.
thats why you need heavy end if you want to use it in combat
it was mostly used as help in combat but if it was upgraded like spikes allover it then it could kill someone very easily
in ancient persia combat with whip was martial art
persians used it to break someones neck with its heavy end or drag enemy toward them selves and broke his neck with straighten arm or disarming opponent
and other tricks that lead to killing your opponent:)(and they often used whip combined with dagger, or katar)
i wasnt able to find any good pictures of combat whips becouse google is full of SM<_<

so you need some kind of system so if enemy will receive heavy impact (possibly huge knockback, but could be also freefall)and land on something hard (wall, or maybe spikes)then it will receive damage
like in DA2cutscenes at the ending of the game when mage grabed templar with telekinesis and thrown him against that bronze eagle and killed him(broke his neck)

Ahem. Boiling and freezing the water in the body? Using it as a shield, using it to slice through objects...Nuloen wrote...

like if it isnt under high pressure or frozen into ICE or boiling water or you arent trying to breath it (drowning)

It's still a branch of the elemental school of magic. As is ice, which is a form of water. I don't see what your point is, especially considering this is magic we are talking about, not scientific demonstrations.
If a mage can summon a firestorm from thin air, or generating massive quantities of water and shooting them out in a freezing jet at someone, I think summoning a massive wave of water to wash enemies away and drown them wouldn't be too out of the realm of possibilities.

I don't see the difference between a drowning bubble and a crushing prison.

Just kidding, that would be stupid in this game...
What I really want to wild a one handed weapon and nothing else effectively... We have seen it in a lots of film like LoTR, Hobbit, Game of thrones etc. Yet we raerly if ever see it in games...
