I highly disagree. Friend games are less interesting than pug games, at least for me. Playing with friends can be very predictable & controlled, which gets boring very quickly. Every game with pugs is different and for me that feeling of not knowing what to expect makes playing with pugs much more fun and interesting.

I find playing with pugs is usually very predictable. I know exactly what's going to happen because I've seen it all. If they stick around for the whole game, the pugs rarely end up with a combined score over 50k, that's very rare. Pugs tend to filter in an out of my games quite frequently, pugs don't always stick around for the whole game.

So basically, it's going to have to be a solo. I'll be the only person doing anything, everyone else would have bled out at the beginning of each wave, not helping with the game at all. It also means having to complete 4 man hacks and uploads by yourself, which can be extremely tough, unless of course you glitch the hack circle. I'm always prepared for that, just as I'm prepared for doing a 4 man escort by myself, as well as delivering packages by myself and missiling targets by myself. It's very predictable, always the same story.

I have to agree with FTL on this. I have over 700 hours on multiplayer, and in my experience Pugging is TOTALLY unpredictable.
I find playing with friends actually extremely dull, because you know what everyone is going to do, you know what everyone is capable of. Extraction is almost guaranteed.
But join a completely random Gold lobby with 3 complete strangers? You have no idea whether your teammates are going to be complete morons, or the best players on the planet.
To me, that uncertainty makes the game much more fun :D

As a person, who played most of games with PUGs,I can only say "I like PUGs".
Why?
It is a cliche, but PUGs are like box of chocolate.

Sometimes people talk if you speak up first. It does help to be a girl, though.

Or just posing as one, and they sing like birds:innocent:

I like to have a party with friends that I talk to but I'm fine playing with randoms for the most part. Odds of success go way up with one friend in the lobby.

O too agree with FTL. Pugging is fun. The unpredictability and occasional disappointments is part of excitement. If you win every time with ease, you probably would start losing interest in game. .

I enjoy both, honestly.

PUGing is fun to me, even if it's usually quiet. On PS3, there seems a higher chance of running into a room with folks talking. It's about 50/50 whether I bother to put my mic on when PS3 PUGing, but have generally always had a fun time joking about some of the in-game action. When PUGing on PC, I've got my mic set to push-to-talk. I have often found that even if I do start talking in a PC PUG, there's usually no response at all and I feel rather awkward just talking at no one, even if the talk is as simple as "I'm coming to revive you", etc.

Playing with friends is definitely awesome, though. I mean, you know you're basically guaranteed to extract, but half the fun is drunken shenanigans and trolling each other and goofing around/joking on the mic. Love it.
