2. The prime members of the human race. Their example matters a lot, the aliens will be looking at them. Kai Leng was a let down to te n7 rank. 

3. Asari, personally my least favorite desigb and culture, and I have never liked one. and a second is much harder. I suppose the Rachni, never had a personal connection to them.

They did a secret focus group thing for a collection of selected Mass Effect fans (through social media, I believe), and it was supposed to stay under wraps with NDAs.  One of the participants went to another forum and posted the details of the event, though, which included these questions.  Once the post gained some attention from media outlets, it apparently was erased.

If they're willing to get some input from the fans on the timeline issue, I'd say there's a good chance this won't be a prequel.

1.) Alternate universe primary choice, sequel secondary. Do not want a prequel at all.

2.) Elite special forces. Delta Force, SEAL Team 6, etc.

3.) Drell and Vorcha.

1. I know this is probably not going to happen, but if it were up to me, I'd go the "spiritual successor" route.

2. Doesn't really mean much to me, although perhaps that's because I never buy merchandise associated with games other than the games themselves. I'm not really sure why it became so iconic, since Shepard's N7 status was never a major plot point in any game.

3. I'd probably go with the Drell and maybe the Volus (some unfortunate implications there). Also, the Reapers, obviously.
