So I just beat Origins (in addition to Dragon Age 2) and I was curious as to what DLC I should buy. I have already purchs Awakening (I know it's not technically DLC, but I want to include it). Was this a good choice? I was also thinking about Which Hunt; how was that one? Are there any must buy DLCs that I should get?

Thanks

For DAO, I would recommend The Stone Prisoner at the very least, as it's generally regarded as the best DLC for the game. Warden's Keep is a fun little side trek that comes with some good gear and new abilities. Return to Ostagar is just so-so. However, you should only buy them if you intend to play through Origins again.

As for DLC you can play after Origins, Witch Hunt is generally pretty fun, and I would say it's a must-buy if you romanced Morrigan in Origins because you get to reunite with her. Golems of Amgarrak is really only worth it if you thought Origins was too easy and you want a challenge - the end boss is the toughest monster featured in Dragon Age so far.

As for DA2, Legacy is generally regarded as the best DLC, being a fairly fun dungeon crawl that sheds some light on the origin of the darkspawn. MotA is pretty light-hearted and fun, but the story and the side character that comes with it (Tallis) is very divisive in the fandom. You can play both of these after the end of DA2.

The Exiled Prince and the Black Emporium are only worth getting if you intend to do another playthrough of DA2. I liked The Exiled Prince, but Sebastian (the character that comes with it) irks some people because he's a very devout Andrastian.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitely planning on replaying Origins a few more times. I fell in love with it and started a new play through as soon as a beat it. But I put it on hold so I could play the second. T here are a few origins I want to finish the game with, before Inquisition comes out.

I did romance Morigan, but my character sacrificed him self. Will the romance still be referenced at least? It doesn't matter I'm going to romance her again. Even though both of these Wardens will be fairly honorable, I loved her romance.

Are the Origins DLCs better than the ones for its sequel? While I'm planning on replayig Origins a few more times; I don't see my self putting much more into number 2 (I'll probably replay it in the future). It's not that I didn't like the game; I loved it, but Origins has more replay value. Also, while I feel that I have already established my canon Hawks, I'm unsure about my Warden. I have so many different versions of this character, I want to wait and see which one I enjoy best. That probably seems weird, but sometimes the character I like the most is on a later play through. For example, in Mass Effect, my third Sheperd was my canon version. This has nothing to due with the choices I make, often they're quite similar, I just end up connecting with one play though more. I guess I kind of got off topic there. Sorry.

Awakening and Witch Hunt have an unusual "bug" that invalidates the sacrifice of your Warden, unfortunately. If you import a save where the Warden sacrificed himself, then it changes the game state so that the Warden took the Dark Ritual instead. Your Warden will be alive again, in other words, and absolutely no one will comment on his miraculous resurrection.

Witch Hunt does acknowledge the romance between the Warden and Morrigan, and there is a special option at the end of Witch Hunt that can only be taken by those Wardens who fell in love with her.

The two story DLCs for Dragon Age 2 are actually regarded by some as better than Origins' DLCs because they were made to specifically address complaints about DA2 (recycled maps and so forth). Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar weren't trying to "win back the crowd," so they're a tad short and kind of bare bones. The Stone Prisoner is fairly long because they originally planned to include that content in the regular game, but it got cut.

OK. That makes sense. I'll have to try the DA: 2 ones also. The more the better. I can't get enough of these games and I quite liked my Hawke. It would be fun to play with her for a while longer. Thanks for the information!

Does it really invalidate the sacrifice? I head you got to play as a Warden sent from Orleis. Which I thought would be interesting. I guess a miraculous resurrection could be cool. I could pretend it's an alternate universe, and see how my Warden would react to the stories. Although, I thought it would be interesting to see how a different Warden would interact with my companion. Especially Morrigan; since he'd probably be a lot more hostile towards her than my warden that romanced her.

You can choose to play Awakening as an Orlesian Warden and even import that character into Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt. Being an Orlesian Warden does net a bit more hostility from the locals than if you were the Hero of Ferelden. (Not much more, mind you. The story is still basically the same.)

You just can't import a save where the Warden died and expect him/her to stay dead. Awakening and Witch Hunt doesn't let you. I say it's a bug, but it's more like "we couldn't figure out how to make this work."
