Yesterday, I landed up in good lobby and after playing a bunch of good gold games with different characters, I chose n7 Paladin. At wave 1 noticed host had changed lobby to Platinum (Banshee scream on wave 1) and he was now Flamer Vorcha, And offcourse one was Juggy and other Slayer. Rippaz, Glacier. I/we know what to do. We huddled ourself in the small room behind juggy and slaughtered everything. But godddamn It was so much boring that the Gold games we played. Everybody left after that.
Platinum is more..

i didn't notice he changed until the start of wave 1. I had no cyclonic and had strength enhancer 3 slapped.FatherOfPearl wrote...

That is the problem with platinum, it makes you play in certain style. At least I could not do melee paladin on platinum. Neither I or the Vorcha could have survived the banshee grab had we not hid behind the juggy. But yeah. Easy credit farming.

Platinum can be a real b!tch sometimes though, so if I need a break I'll mess around on Gold for a bit. but if I play Gold for too long, I begin to miss the mixed factions.

Are you kidding? Doing a zero spec, no equipment, spitfire, volus melee, platinum solo is the the only way to have fun. Doing anything less is so easy that a limbless dead monkey could do it. The hardest part about playing gold is battling the encroaching coma you're falling into from how boring it is.

Gold is boring because it's much too easy, there is zero challenge in gold unless you play on some maps like London, against collectors...even then, it's still a walk in the park.
Platinum is fun if you get 4 decent players who are able to run around the map without needing to camp, without needing to rely on each other. Each person goes off on his own and just slaughters everything. That's the best, most fun way to play platinum. But you need to be an experienced (or good) player to be able to do that. It's not something you're able to do right off the bat, that's why most people tend to spend a lot of time playing on gold. As you get better at the game, you'll be able to use any character on unknown/unknown platinum and do well, without needing to camp every single map on every single game.

OT: when you catch the flow of platinum games it will deliver some fun. Plat and gold are different stories. Gold - fun and dynamic, but will become boring roflstomp with >2 good players. Platinum is fun with >2 good players.
And there is no need to play juggernout, reetard sexbot, TGI or GT to have fun on plat.
But you need a decent gun. (lolClaymoar, lolArc-Pistol)
I, for example pug plat mostly with OG-Turians (and everybody knows they are underpowered silver kits
With friends I can choose whatever I want (drell adept with spitfire? Why not

You're not exactly playing platinum there...you're camping a corridor behind a juggernaut. That's very boring, the game is not meant to be played like that. People love to camp the landing zone on Giant and the box on Rio...these camping strategies are very boring, like I said, you're not really playing platinum.

I love how everyone hates on camping because it is cheap, yet really, if you don't have the right characters in the team, it is actually far more difficult. Yes, hiding behind a Juggernaut and Volus is lame. So is a full team of Slashers/Smashers slaughtering the enemy through a wall before they can ever be a threat.
But camping some random area with a HSent, a QFE, a Batguard, and a slashless Shadow? That takes more had work and skill than the four of them off Ramboing around on their own.
As for the topic, I prefer gold, but that is probably mostly because PUGs tend to suck, and I have to drag the team to victory whether they like it or not most of the time. I can often do that on gold. But when I have to carry a platinum game, its not going to end well.

I agree (partly)with you. No I wans't. I was melee oriented N7 Paladin with Power Ampl 4/Strength Enhancer3. While I love paladin, I ain't as good as melee and CCQ character on Platinum and not get synced. What i have seen is it forces team to stick to certain characters and a strategy. I dont see people doing Vancouver platinum, its always ghost or glacier or reactor. And so on.
I understand what you are saying by it was not really playing hiding behind the juggy, but to say that Gold is easy and zero challenge, is bit over the top. I play Gold everyday and still enjoy it after 1200+ hours. I find being able to drop in any lobby other than cyclonic 4/TalonX/AP4 and be able to extract, satisfying.

May be I should start pugging platinum. I never did search for platinum games. I am decent player by now.
But I dread being kicked out as I feel only elites from here play Platinum. LOL. I spam overload if I have it. DAT THREAD. Gulp! Or sometime my warp ball hit the big fat praetorian instead of the Captain.

Just take your favorite kit/weapon combo and search for quick plat (mine plat-starter was Claymoar TSent).
It's kinda easier to find a decent plat team actually. At least more people use consumables here.

Why not? Pugging plat is not always as bad as it's made out. I would suggest that you don't equip before searching as there's a good chance that you will end up in a bad lobby. Once you do find a lobby with a couple of decent looking players in then go for it! Giant isn't a bad way to start, most pug teams will stay around the LZ area and the enemies naturally funnel through the chokepoint. The thing I noticed most on plat was the shieldgate (it's much shorter than on gold), so playing a few games of this easy set up helps to get used to it.
Don't worry about elites either, I'm sure they would rather have a competent player who uses their consumables even if they occasionally overload armour or proc a bubble, than the Avenger/Predator wielding level 7 human soldiers who have plat as their default difficulty.

Weirdly I greatly dislike mixed factions - it's probably the main reason I rarely play platinum; U/U/G always for preference - I prefer not to know what's coming.
U/U/P, unless you get Collectors, is the same stuff every game just in a different order.

Me too. Even in the middle of game I feel that Phantom or Assault Trooper should not be able to stand beside a corrupted Ardat Yakshi. Lore says she should just pick them of and punch a a hole in their chest. It simply does not make sense to me to see them on the same side.
