That would partly be because the Slayer was a scrub.

A decent Slayer attacks spawns, not pull a pansy and hide behind a Jugg.

U/U/P, unless you get Collectors, is the same stuff every game just in a different order.

That's hardly the case. For starters, you only get one enemy faction on the first 2 waves of platinum (similar to wave 10 gold). There is a lot of variety in the enemies seen in platinum games, it's certainly not less varied than gold.

Go play three Platinum games in a row with two friends as a 3-man biotic squad... and one TGI scrub zapping Overload at every enemy interrupting every single one of your team's combos.

Then come back and tell me it wasn't the slightest bit annoying.

Eh, I wish Plat was one faction but bring the difficulty up quite a bit. Some waves of Plat are just easy because the units aren't really complimentary or they get jammed up.

Gold is more predictable and I prefer it when chasing challenges. But…Platinum is preferred when I have a good team…No box-o-shame. The LZ hold on Giant is not too bad as you can still move around, but it is slower than a good team just chasing ‘em down.

Some loudmouth holier-than-thou scrub. He also hates Drell with a burning passion, and maxed his PS3 manifest in under 370 hours.

It was boring because you were all hiding behind a Juggernaut.

That said, I do find Gold to be more fun.

i didn't notice he changed until the start of wave 1. I had no cyclonic and had strength enhancer 3 slapped.

That is the problem with platinum, it makes you play in certain style. At least I could not do melee paladin on platinum. Neither I or the Vorcha could have survived the banshee grab had we not hid behind the juggy. But yeah. Easy credit farming.

Yeah, this is why I like Gold better too.  You can use pretty much any play style you want on Gold and still succeed.  Platinum kind of forces you into certain play styles unless you are a super-elite player who can win with everything (which I am not).

OP it's the camping that's boring. When you mix it with bad team match-ups and long, stretched out games, it makes it even more so. I dropped in on a couple of teams on Rio last night because I had 4 games left to complete my Map Mastery (again), so I figured wth. The guys I ran into weren't scrubs, they just needed a few suggestions. Out of curiosity and reaffirming my previous suspicion, I switched to the Juggy in game 2. That game went horribly long and bad (they still made it to extraction). All the campers really need is:
  • a volus (engineer) for shield boost, debuff, and scan
  • a demolisher for pylon shield and damage boost and grenade all things
  • an Inf with Duration cloak for dps and disable devices
  • and any kit that puts out excellent deeps (GI, Huntress, TGI, Justicar, Paladin, GT, Destroyer, etc)
After I got my Map Mastery we chatted it up a bit. They kind of shocked to hear me say that they could get just as much credit and cut the time down by playing Gold. When you add up the amount of time that you're sitting in a lobby prepping and total time struggling thru a Plat match with guys you've never played with, then numbers make more sense to drop back on the difficulty. You'll also make your games alot less 'boring' that way.

Platinum glacier with Flamer and snap freeze it extremely fast and efficient way to get credits. While banshees were taking bit long, the phantoms and hunters and marauders were dying super Aar without we even seeing them.

The definition of boredom. Seriously, just play the game and don't worry about wiping. Who knows, with enough practice, you could find yourself doing really well in platinum and enjoying yourself as much as you do in gold, if not even more. Platinum will always be the tougher challenge, which is why it'll always be my favourite mode.

What's even more funny is its four people as using one button gameplay.

Juggy - melee button
Vorcha - lamer button
Paladin - snap cheese button
Slayer - slash button

That might've added to the boredom too.
