U/U/P, unless you get Collectors, is the same stuff every game just in a different order.

That's hardly the case. For starters, you only get one enemy faction on the first 2 waves of platinum (similar to wave 10 gold). There is a lot of variety in the enemies seen in platinum games, it's certainly not less varied than gold.

You're right that there is a lot of variety in enemy compostion within each platinum game. However, there's a lot less variety between different platinum games than there is between different gold games.

Playing random enemies on gold means you'll face a completely different set of enemies every time.
Playing random enemies on platinum (the original 3 factions anyway) will always result in you fighting - Primes, Pyros, Hunters, Engineers, Guardians, Phantoms, Atlases, Brutes, Ravagers and Banshees at some stage, regardless of what enemy you're facing.
That's why I feel gold has more variety.

What's even more funny is its four people as using one button gameplay.

Juggy - melee button
Vorcha - lamer button
Paladin - snap cheese button
Slayer - slash button

That might've added to the boredom too.

oh no. I had scorpion so I kept proxy mines on doors to keep everyone staggered. Lol. Don't pick up on me guys, I did find it extremely boring too. I did not even knew. I intended to play gold running around meleeing phantoms and detonating my own combos. Like I said I noticed at wave one and realized why the host picked Vorcha. Aha well, so I could as well farm some credits. After all my Javelin and Typhoon is 3 and 4.

Otherwise my reliable kits for platinum are  HE/Huntress/ACA. Only close quarter I am comfortable with is Valkyrie.

^ that's exactly it :)

It's why I rarely stay in a gold lobby that has the enemy pre-determined as well (or map either really)... if you know it's going to be Geth you can just load up with an anti-Geth kit (SE, GE, and so on) which makes the whole thing much easier... though you do avoid Rocket Trooper induced rage caused by having a 0 fitness HSent and getting Geth (which I just had).

Me too. Even in the middle of
game I feel that Phantom or Assault Trooper should not be able to stand
beside a corrupted Ardat Yakshi. Lore says she should just pick them of
and punch a a hole in their chest. It simply does not make sense to me
to see them on the same side.

^ and that too!

Plat is fun when you play with people who don't camp. It's a bit tiring tho..

Well sir, you can't really hide behind a volus so to say, the volus hides behind you while you deal teh' damage. x)

I personally think geth plat is funner / more challenging than any gold game / other platinum game.

Just me tho ;)

I've actually played 3 geth plats today, and only 1 was successfully extracted, it seems as though the first few waves are actually harder than some of the later waves haha

That's because there's less Geth in the later waves.

Gold is definitely more boring. Everything melts when you just look at it. 2 good players make Gold a joke, let alone 4 breezing through it in 10-13 minutes a game, spawn nuking and using high dps kits.

This is why I play Platinum. I enjoy the challenge, and if my teammates wipe, so be it. I'll clutch it no matter what.

Have you tried Gold without spawn nuking and high DPS kits? Quite a bit more enjoyable IMO since I am free to use anything without suffering too badly in damage output. Melee builds, Tech Armor matches, weaker weapons such as the Raptor, etc. are all of good use on Gold. If I were to try those in Platinum it would make for long and likely frustrating matches.

Now if all people were to do is spawn nuke and use high DPS kits, Platinum still isn't going to be all that enjoyable since that stuff melts almost just as quick under that scenario with 4 good players. Even just 2 can make it a breeze with high DPS kits, which is why I tend to limit myself personally.

Same here. I enjoy the challenge it gives compared to gold pugging. Friend games are a breeze on both difficulties no matter what. Don't no about the clutching  on my part though :)

^This! If you melt enemies in Gold just by looking at it, you probably are that good with that you melt platinum enemies by staring at it. I can pug UUG with my level 18 Volus and find the excitement i look for in gaming.

I always PUG plat so most of the time it's a Giant LZ camp, which probably explains why I seldom play Plat. It does get dull just mashing enemies with a Typhoon or BW from a distance.

I played one Plat Reactor cerb which wasn't camped but boy was it tough. Used all my gel and all my op packs but it felt epic.

I know my place. Do not pass Gold, do not collect $200 :crying:

I'd disagree with that on the grounds that I went platinum - hated the mixed enemeies and having to put up with Banshee screams almost every game - and went back to U/U/G mostly.

Still play the odd platinum if someone on my FL wants to - but that's very, very rare - they mostly prefer U/U/G as well.

Then again, playing with friends, often extracting is a tertiary objective behind:

Killing team-mates with abominations
Killing team-mates in the Reactor (that KroLord last night just wouldn't die, even when locked in with a Brute )
Shockwave spamming the sniper
Using 4x Volus Protector Vanguards with Batarian Gauntlets
Using 4x something that's really bad (4x TSol is good, 4x TSol with the Shuriken is funny)

So I'll leave the spawn-nuking and high DPS kits for platinum as they bore the crap out of me and stick to running around like a lunatic, killing friends and headbutting enemies, in U/U/G thanks - so by my yardstick, platinum is way more boring than gold (and not much harder if you cheese it) :P

*disclaimer : I've had a maxxed manifest for months, I don't need the credits, I play for sh*ts and giggles.
