The PSP has two rares for 99k (plus slightly higher chance for URs), while the SP has one rare for 60k. So it would seem the PSP is a better value. Obviously, I must be missing something. What is the advantage of an SP over an PSP?

If you have maxed everything but URs like me, then a SP will give you 4 level 3 equipment and 1 level 4 or maybe a UR if your are lucky. While the 2 level 4 pieces in PSP are nice, I always seem to get a character card in PSP which is useless to me as I don't like to promote.

I find SP are nice for getting high level equipment but I do believe PSP have a higher UR drop rate, though not by much.

I have better luck getting weapon mods, uncommon gear, rare weapon mods in spectre packs. I don't know if that's by design or coincidence. Someone else might be able to elaborate more.

If playing Gold: SP
If playing Platinum: PSP/AP, or SP

You want to earn a pack every match at least. Anything less and you'll run out of consumables and be forced to waste more money on JEPs.

Getting a PSP every 2nd Gold match for double UR chance does you no good if you keep having to buy JEPs with guaranteed zero UR chance.

I believe gears and weapon mods tend to show up in the consumable slots, of which SPs have 3 and PSPs only 2. That combined with SPs being cheaper and yeah, they're the way to go for getting gears and mods.

@OniGanon:

Thanks for the advise. I guess I'll go back to buying SPs. Especially since I want gear and mods.

I find it useful to buy JEPs and Veteran packs until all my four supplies (medi-gel, op packs etc) are at 255 before buying Spectre packs. This way, I can get 4 level IIIs instead of 2. The level I and II equipment will also come in handy.

PSP is better, But I did get the N7 Valkyrie from a spectre pack today, I think its really rare to get a UR from a spectre pack, but it's happened a few times for me

Ultra-rare drop rates are based on the number of Rare cards that a pack is guaranteed to drop. This means that, theoretically, you would be twice as likely to get a UR from a 99k pack (they all have roughly the same credits:UR ratio) than you would from a regular Spectre pack. However, regular Spectre packs will drop three Uncommon consumables, while PSP/AP/RPs only drop 2.

If you have all your Rare weapons and characters maxed, then the better value would be one of the 99k packs. If you don't, buy regular Spectre packs, as these will occasionally drop a second Rare at no extra cost.

What about bronze (legitimate question)?

...then you probably won't need to be making much use of consumables.

Like... yes, you could make the round go faster if you brought out incendiary ammo and used thermal clip packs for temporary damage boosts and nuked every single assassination target with a Cobra, but it seems unlikely to be necessary unless you've drawn a terrible team (that isn't bad enough to just disconnect from, e.g. nobody is massively griefing by venting the reactor during a hack and killing everybody inside.   OSHA would /not/ approve of that terminal location.  :D)

So, if you avoid using consumables much at all... then at ~17K a round, you could save up for the 99K packs.

This.

Paying 40k (PSP) or 24k (SP) for 10 supply items is a total waste of credits, when you can get 20 of them along with 6 useful consumables for 33k (JEP).

I do this mostly too.  The 'value' of SP versus PSP can only be assessed in terms of what you need - if you're desperate for UR weapons PSPs or APs will get them for you more quickly, but in all probability you'll run out of any of the level 3 amps which you actually use far more quickly than you obtain those URs.

Also worth noting that Veteran Packs are the best place to find respec cards, for those like me who don't promote.

For ammo and consumables, SP is better value. For UR weapons, PSPs and APs are better/
