Nope. I recomend doing Citadel DLC after everything BUT Cronos Station so you get the maximum experience during it.
Seconded.

The PPR is hard for any of the standard game AR's to beat.seacrest3000 wrote...
At the moment I am using the prothean rifle and it's working well, but are any of the regular rifles better? I use Garrus and Javik. Also, is it worth doing citadel dlc asap so I can get the lancer for them?
As far as Citadel goes, you can always do the mission early to get the guns, and then wait to throw the party.

Other than that which assualt rifle you choose is basically up to your preference. I personally enjoy the Mattock and Saber the most from the regular game (no DLC). With the DLC's I like the Adas, Cerberus Harrier, N7 Typhoon, N7 Valkyrie, Chakram, and Lancer.
Since you only have the Citadel and From Ashes DLCs, the assualt rifles I recommend for squadmates are either the Saber or Lancer. From personal experience, their AI seem to preform exceptionally with these guns. Recommend adding a stability mod and scope to the Saber, it helps with their accuracy a lot (scope also increases recoil stability slightly, hidden mechanic!). Stick whatever you want on the Lancer but be sure to give them a stability mod, the AI needs all the help they can get when it comes to aiming.
Hope any of this helps

But you don't really gain anything for the main mission after Rannoch, so it wouldn't hurt to do the mission after Rannoch then the party before Chronos Station.
That's just me though. I do the mission after rannoch since Tali is your last squadmate added, and the party before endgame because Miranda and the overall "this is the end" feeling of the party.

Well, even the person who said early said "after the dreadnought." Which still gives you Tali. Taking the mission ASAP also gives you the most time to go through the whole cycle of meet-ups pre-party. It's pretty easy for the trigger messages not to pop up in time otherwise.

This game wasn't meant to be micromanaged.

-If Tali is alive but set to die, it is up to you when to do Citadel
-If Miranda is dead, don't worry about doing Citadel before Sanctuary (and maybe Thessia)
-If Miranda is alive but set to die, it's up to you.
One could technically do Citadel before the Geth Dreadnaught without as much story disruption.
Or one could do it before Thessia/Sanctuary.
But best place, for everyone being involved, and at least for certain Visits + Party is right between Sanctuary and Cronos.

And agreed with known_hero. It shouldn't matter. In fact, I consider the Lancer more of an easter egg than a weapon that 'matters'.

These days I just assign weapons to squadmates from an RP perspective, it makes things more interesting. I am potentially gimping my squadmates weapon damage capabilities, but I prefer to actually do some of the work instead of being a bystander like I was when I gave both Ashley and James the Typhoon.
Ashley - Valkyrie, Black Widow
James - Typhoon, Crusader
EDI - Hornet, Talon
Garrus - Phaeston, Krysae
Tali - GPS, Arc Pistol
Javik - Particle Rifle, Paladin
Liara - Acolyte, Hurricane
Aria - BPP, Disciple
Nyreen - Phaeston, Executioner Pistol
Shepard(Vanguard) - Wraith, Suppressor
Shepard(Soldier)- Harrier, Suppressor
