I'd rather not see any past companions unless it totally makes sense and is necessary for the plot.
In DA2 it felt really contrived to meet every single one as Hawk who had nothing to do with the Warden, especially Leliana with whom my Warden in meant to be living happily every after damn it.
So who would you like to see from previous games?

If it's well done and doesn't resurrect anyone (like Leliana) I'd be happy for anyone to return, but I'd love to see Shale again.
That said I believe Aveline to be THE most boring companion Bioware has ever created. I'd kind of like to see her return in some capacity if they could find a way to make her more interesting.

leliana wasn't resurrected. she never died. I killed oghren in some playthroughs, whynne in others hell I have killed every character I could kill in both games in several play-throughs just so I could. I don't see a problem with them retconning an optional decision to kill a major character due to the fact that they decided later that they felt that she was the best option with the stories of later games. it's not like they retconned your ultimate sacrifice or anything like that.

The Warden & The Hawke as important NPC or Agents.
Flemeth, Morrigan & Yavana as important NPCs. Witches of the Wilds have always played a important part.
Sten, Alistair, Anora as important NPCs. Most likely they are leaders of their people / nation. As for Alistair, I would like some dialouge difference depending of if he was hardened by the Warden or not.
Leliana as a cameo or a important NPC representing Divine's interests. I would like some dialouge difference depending of if she was hardened by the Warden or not.
Shale as a cameo. Most likely assisting mages given the events in Asunder. Would like her to be an Agent in Inquisition. Maybe she can help us seal the underwater tear in Crestwood ? Who knows.
Zevran as a cameo or an Agent. It would be good for the Inquisition, especially one that chooses to focus on espionage and/or might to get the backing & support of the Antivan Crows.
Sigrun, Nathaniel, Velanna, Oghren as cameos. All of them together with Bethany / Carver (depend on their Deep Roads excursions) are most likely Grey Wardens. The Inquisition could use the support of the Wardens as well as know what they have been up to. Those 4 are also there if you made the deal with Architect.
Loghain as a cameo. He would be an older Warden now, either up to something at their behest of the Wardens or close to his Calling perhaps ?
Florian Phineas Horatio Aldebrant, Esquire / Finn as cameo or mentioned. He is one of the pro-Circle mages. Would like to see how his view have evolved. He also have ties to Cadash thaig, eluvian, Zinovia.
Eamon Guerrin & Teagan as NPCs. Would meet them anyway since we might be visiting Redcliffe. Also would like to meet Isolde with her ridiculous accent. Loved the way she said Teagan. Most likely Teagan would be in charge of Redcliffe now with Bella / Kaitlyn as his wife. Eamon is old.
Feynriel and Connor as cameos. In most of my playthroughs both of them end up in Tevinter.
Merrill, Arianne, Sabrae Clan as NPCs. Most likely we will meet them in the Dales since I think the Dalish would be having their Arlathvenn and plus the elves are rebelling in Orlais.
Wade & Herren would most likely be in Denerim. We would be visitng there IMO. I mean we have renderings of Redcliffe, we will visit Crestwood, game does take place in Ferelden a lot..so we could meet them.
Fenris & Anders as a cameo. Unless they are involved with Hawke romantically.

Isabela as an NPC who offers orgies and perhaps get us support from the Felicsima Armada..she was part of it and knew many who are in it. Would be interesting to meet her as a QunQuisitor.
