Recently I started a second play through of Origins and this time I think I'll spare Loghain; mostly because it is what my character will do. I also plan on having Alistair marry Anora. Now I imagine Alistair will be pretty angry with me for this choice; I heard he leaves the party. So when I return after letting Loghain kill the arch demon, will I get to talk to Alistair? Will there be any  indication as to whether or not he forgave me? This won't impact my decision; I want to keep my warden in character; I'm just curious.

If you marry Alistair off to Anora and spare Loghain, you must make sure you harden him. He will do it, leave the party and is basically pissed off at you for doing it.

If Loghain is killed, I hear he isn't as angry at the end than he is if both Loghain and the Warden survive, but let's face it, you ruined the friendship and he isn't inclined to forgive you anytime soon. IE in the course of the short time the game is allotted, there is no forgiveness forthcoming. I am unsure if he will eventually forgive the Warden or not, it just isn't shown.

That's too bad. Although, I do like how it's impossible to get a perfectly happy ending in this game. What about when you see him in Awakening?

I think it depends on whether on not Loghain is still alive. He'll be ticked at you as long as he's alive, although I think it has lessened a bit by the events of DA2. If you want to fix your relationshiip with Alistair, let Loghain kill the Archdemon.

That's my plan. I couldn't see my warden sacrificing herself for Loghain. So how does this carry into Awakening?

A perfectly happy ending depends on your Warden's point of view.

If you romance Leliana or Zevran and have Alistair or Loghain do the Dark Ritual, or Loghain die to the archdemon, you might be very happy. :) Other people won't be, but who cares about them right? :P

I didn't get any indication that he was still ticked off at me during Awakening. He even said he'd be happy to drop everything and adventure with me again, only thanks to his position as king it wasn't an option.
