Sounds like it was quite the holiday for Shepard however. Warm cooked food, fresh food... Nicer acomodations. The alliance was also interviewing Shepard regarding the "Reapers" during that time.
They might not have done a lot about it but they might have learned something for the post invasion timeline. I'm not talking abotu the commite that got killed by the reaper, I'm talking about all the people who interviewed Shepard for months and the data brought back.
6 months isn't enough time to do much of anything though

Like the council cares what happens to the batarians.
