They better start learning Qunari because the horned devils are going to invade just after that mage templar war, veil demon horde rip, civll war in Orlais and war between dalish and whoever they want to take on. The Qunari are waiting......and watching......and waiting....

I'll let them have the Kont-Aar if they can clean up the cow people and converts themselves.

For the Dalish to revolt, they'd really need to be under someone. Since the Dalish pretty much stay away from settlements and at the edges of other civilizations, that's not much.

Plus, you know, they're scattered across the continent. There wouldn't be an uprising against one power as much as a bunch of individual clan-led raiders.

Now, they could collectively decide to wage guerilla warfare... but what does that get them? At worst, they lose outright and are massacred. At best, they create pockets of exclusive control while everyone else is distracted... until their neighbors re-consolidate with a well-justified grudge.

So they get a patch of land for, what, a decade? Maybe three?

Dalish revolt? Don't you mean, "city elf revolt." The dalish aren't the one's being treated as second class citizens.

It seems to me that in a time when tears into the Veil are opening, pouring demons and then staying open until some merry band of adventurers comes along to close them, a nomadic lifestyle; such as the one the Dalish have adopted for centuries now; where you can simply take your entire population away from said tears with no problems would be preferable to a nation with borders but hey, what do I know?

^ You can't expect Thedosians to be the best at making decisions, now can you?

Maybe they're just that cross that they'll make that mistake.

Also have keepers and firsts that can seal demons/spirits

The dalish will be fine, its the city elves that need to revolt. With humans purging alienage and enslaving them, veil tears, qunaris, and mabaris stealing their food they need to hurry up and do something

And get their asses handed to them? Between 2 wars and demon's roaming, I'd say it go terrible.

The Dalish should revolt against the world and simply take all their things and move into the Fade tears, we'll seal them there and they can be happy about being isolated.

Then the Sixth Blight can occur right in the middle of Par Vollen and the Qunari get an ass kicking since they don't have Wardens and I doubt anyone will come to their aid until the Blight finished them off.

Looking at the history of the setting nothing good happens when the Dalish rise up.

Dalish revolt? Revolt against who? The very act of revolt requires a ruler or an oppressor. The Dalish are nomadic and outside human societies, even though their Keepers and Firsts are pretty much wanted apostates and hunted continually.

Now is actually closer to a good time for the Dalish to support the elves in Orlais. Strategy wise, this is probably the closest to perfect time to retake, or gain a homeland with all the strife going on.

Even if the Dalish manged to do one, they would not hold their new land longer then ten years.

I've been thinking that while a lot of the various factions of Thedas are involved in their own wars (Mages v Templars, Orlesian civil war, Fade tear) it would be a good time strategically for the Dalish to revolt and seize their own lands again while everyone else is occupied.  I don't think that will happen in the game but it would be interesting.

With the world preoccupied with the Mage-Templar War and the veil tears, and Orlais dealing with a civil war, I think the speculated elven rebellion in the Dales has a good opportunity to reclaim their homeland, especially with the support of the elven Inquisitor.

Didn't the Dales as an elven nation completely and utterly defeated Orlais? It was the exalted marches that made the Dales fall, Orlais was losing in every single front. I could remember wrong though. Too much lore to remember :|

So if this is true and other nations are too busy to help the Dalish elves indeed can revolt and take back Dales, for how long I don't know.

According to WoT, the other nations didn't partecipare in the Exalted March against the Dales. Though templars and mages likely did.
It's not relevant how strong the Dales were though. The city elves aren't trained to fight, and the dalish are few in numbers. The elves don't have the same military power that they had during the war against Orlais.

Know what the elves should really do right now? Try to not get killed by humans along with demons and dragons. Maybe even try to help. Improve education and else afterwards. Try to get along with humans, and then humans with them. But I'm a radical guy, so maybe I'm thinking too outside the "We oppressed"-box BSN likes to build around its character races.

Sure, it will give the human kingdoms and militant organizations the spark they need to later wipe out the Dalish.

I'm all for it.

Well this is the only real answer, so I guess that could work too.
