For the love of Dumat can we not have another Ferelden barbarian as the Player...Ferelden is boring! Give me a Tevinter, or an Orlesian at the very least. Please no more Ferelden.

This. Very sick of Fereldan when there's other nations in Thedas (Anderfels, Nevarra, Antiva, Rivain, Tevinter, Orlais). Or at least I hope that one of the human origins (Warrior, Rogue, or Warrior/Rogue depending how they decide to handle that) is Fereldan while another is from another nation (Tevinter mage? YES).

If these surnames are accurate they do give us some hints. If a dwarf is a Cadash, then your character is probably a surfacer and maybe part of the Merchant's Guild. I believe Gaider has specifically said that if you play a Dwarf then you are playing an outcast living on the surface - that was in one of the Game Informer articles. If the Qunari has a surname (and, really, any name) then he/she is not part of the Qun. I believe we already knew that, but that backs it up.

I do hope the Warrior and Rogue last names are different for the sake of different origins. Such as the human Rogue once served as a bard in the Orlesian game while the Warrior human was a chevalier (just examples). Would hate to see the Warrior & Rogue get the same origin...

That aside, the names do look promising. Trevelyan sounds very Orlesian, even if he/she is not a native of Orlais. Adaar probably hints to something within the Qunari ranks, Levellan sounds like the name of the clan the Elf Mage Inquisitor came from and Cadash is a fallen thaig.

Trevelyan sounds more Ferledian than Orlesian, it's not a french name at all like Du Puis or Dumar.

Trevelyan is a real life Cornish (related to English) name, so it's most likely a Fereldan name.

Or maybe a Free Marcher name.

I said that because Orlais is related to France and Fereldan is related to England, Free Marches would be something like Monaco or Luxembourg or Andorra, well I live in France and I can tell you Trevelyan is not a french name, way more english than french.

So yeah maybe a Fereldian again. Or maybe someone from Nevarra.

The male Inquisitor certainly didn't sound Orlesian in the PAX demo, but that voice might not be final.

I like the theory someone proposed above, that the Free Marches are sort of analogous to European microstates or trading city-states on the borders of much larger empires. In that sense, I could totally see a Marcher state where the people sound roughly Cornish, although a regional variant of the Ferelden accent (whatever that is) would also kinda make sense?

(Sebastian's accent was totally Scottish, right? It's been a while since I played DA2 but you could take Starkhaven as a kind of stand-in for Scotland. Maybe the other Free Marches cities are just as diverse.)

I would like my human inquisitor to be Orlesian. He should have an Orlesian accent, always wear the kickass hat from the trailer,  have a penchant for colorful armor and stylish beards, and be a religious self-righteous fanatic by the name of LeCroix.
But I'll roll with whatever BW give me.

Edit: I would prefer an Orlesian, though. Or an inquisitor from Tevinter. I'm feeling a little bit bored with Fereldans, we've been those already.

Edit: To stay on topic... I'm fine with assigned surnames. Your eminence is even better. Not so fond of Trevelyan, but it's ok. The other names I liked, especially Cadash.
