No romance section is the best romance section.
That was actually possible in the leaked script.
I'm sad that they removed it.

That's utter pure speculation. But if it's so there might be less reason for such a forum.
Though quarantine isn't a bad idea. Mwahahah

It's definitely the worst part of the game, and over time they've only declined in actual quality. If romances continue going down the line of "Solve me and my daddy's problems," there would be a minimum of skin lost of my nose. I honestly never cared about the romance section, and I was glad when it was removed. Most of it was full of weird, umentionable things, and was very distubring to me, to say the least. That's my opinion anyway, but a section just for romances is hardly needed when it all takes up a combined whopping total of almost eight minutes.
Well, so much for acting like I'm working hard today. I think my laughter was heard on the other floor.

Replaying me1 I forgot how bad the romances in that were. Using liara as an example, ME3 is practically shakespearean in comparison.
I think if I'd run into Liara the first time via ME3, I'd like her a helluva lot more. I can't get ME1 Liara out of memory though. Not necessarily because of Liara - my mind shifts to the writer, Drew K. All due respect to him otherwise, but he's not good at this. When I think of Liara, I think of an old guy first. Not a character. It just seemed to play into his own fantasies a bit too much. Timid space babe who instantly falls into your lap and claims to have a close connection right off the bat? No thanks.
edit: To be fair though, he at least balanced the dialogue with either adoring her or being disgusted. Maybe he saw it himself.

True. But the payoff you get in 2 & 3 makes it worth it in my opinion. All the romances in me1 are dreadful (although not as bad as just trying to talk normally to Jacob in me2 is).
But there are a lot of problems with me1. I'm currently on another play through as a femshep adept and my god I forgot how much you can despise the mako.

See, this is where we depart. I love the Mako. That's my true ME1 romance.

To each their own. I find the Tali romance scenes to be second in writing quality only to the Javik dialogues.

Everything about Tali is horrible if you don't romance her. Down to how the animators do the scenes.. It's like Shepard and Tali are close talkers all the time, right up in each other's faces, even as friends. It's about as annoying as Liara and her playing the forced confidant role. There's no middle ground with these characters.

Tali and Javik's dialogues are funny as heck. I found myself just playing to hear them banter about stuff.

I can honestly say I never noticed this and it doesn't bother me. It's standard practice for characters in film to stand much closer to each other than they would in reality, to fit on the screen together. Maybe that's why?

I might say the same with Miranda. If you keep her loyalty, then the game sort of assumes you have some close/intimate relationship with her. Whether it's meeting her in private in that room or the Citadel content when she's all dressed up for gambling. It only works for romance.
