you can do it!!!!!!
Reading through the world of Thedas since I've finally got a copy, I've take note of the part on the Chevaliers.
Quote:
"The penalty of dishonor is death, something a Chevalier should welcome if he or she has failed his order."
Bah, all the characters in this book infuriate me for one reason or another which certainly speaks highly of the writting. I barely know these characters and yet they cause such a stir in me.

Mod, perhaps?
Edit: Nevermind.
Finished the book last night. Makes me super excited to play my elf Inquisitor!

I would have been super-excited to play an elf... I we were allowed to be City Elves, which we are not.
Now, I'm just sad.
I enjoyed the hell out of the book and cant wait to see how this will play out in the game. However, this was my basic reaction by the end of the book due to the actions of all the characters involved.

Inquisitor is going to be hunting down some Orlesian pr*cks. Oh yes they are.
It is refreshing to see that no one is really right in this book and that avarice can cost you more than a minor argument if you fail to see the warning signs blinking at you from miles away. Celene particularly deserved being shuffled away in a deck of cards because she was the most treacherous of them all and for all her supposed intelligence she really was useless in every aspect other than acting the part of a monarch. Surprisingly I found myself admiring Gaspard, because, although he is a pompous, arrogant @ss he genuinely believes he is what is best for the Empire. And I would've agreed were it not for his treatment of the elves.
Briala is a bit of a wild card though; in terms of the game I would aid her in freeing the city elves but I would also keep a close eye on their activities as I don't for one second believe that they will accept the win and settle down. They would try to take more territory after being emboldened and slaughter indescriminantly. Given the chance they would raze every human. What they did in the book only supports my suspicion.
Fel' was a delight to see in this book, as he was serious but poking fun at the events going on around him. But that bit at the end of the book where he say's;
I am however, going to enjoy watching Orlais burn to the ground and if I can help spur it on just that much quicker I will.
Well, for all her faults, I would say Celene believes she is what is best for the empire every bit as much as Gaspard. The difference is, she's a reformer whereas Gaspard is a traditionalist so far as their visions of what Orlais should be are concerned. It is refreshing to see that no one is really right in this book and that avarice can cost you more than a minor argument if you fail to see the warning signs blinking at you from miles away. So, LadyInsanity mentioned (I think) that one character from Masked Empire will be in DAI on the Highlands area (with the Red Templars). Any specific ones come to mind?
Smart money's on Ser Michel, on his quest to vanquish Imshael. So, LadyInsanity mentioned (I think) that one character from Masked Empire will be in DAI on the Highlands area (with the Red Templars). Any specific ones come to mind?

Yeah. Still the worst news about Inquisition. ![]()
Finished it yesterday, it was good. Definitely wouldn't mind reading some more of Weekes' work inside or outside of TheDAS. My one gripe would be too much fighting and not enough character development. Briala and Celene got some decent exposition but Michel felt flat. Also unlike almost everyone else here I LOVED The Game. But I've always been a sucker for intrigue and machinations.
If we have to choose between Celene and Gaspie to stop the civil war I really hope there's a third option where I get to outplay both. Because THE GAME BIATCHES.

Correct, we don't know what he was going to say. People are just guessing how he was going to end that sentence.
Yeah. Still the worst news about Inquisition.
It really crushes my enthusiasm that we have this brilliant city elf rebellion in Orlais... and we can only do something about as an an elf if we accept being Dalish.
Brilliant City Elf Rebellion? If anything the Masked Empire pretty heavily stated that City Elves cannot do anything about their situation without outside help. Halamshiral is the only city in Thedas with a majority elven population and Celene crushed their rebellion with ease. Briala even lamented how the city elves were so proud of accomplishing so little when she arrived to help them.

That's my feeling about the city elves from DAO.
To go through Thadus and see all these mystical weapons from other cultures to go back to the alienage and seeing your mothers wimpy knife that pale to comparison to every weapon you come across makes a city elf very depress in the lacking of quality her culture has.
And it's even worse the she know most of the city elves don't know it.
Personally I can see Briala siding with the Inquisitor if they can get their help.
Probably by making their aid conditional in the Civil War to who they support.
I could see it as an interesting like War Asset you could add.
Who knows maybe Briala will just attack the Inquistion when they try to close the Civil War.
Hope not.
Maybe there is an option to get someone to promise the Dales back to them, in return for her and the Inquisitors support.
Just finished The Masked Empire last night. ![]()
Some interesting times ahead for a pro-elven Inquisitor...
Fellasan...
Just finished the book yesterday and completely amazed.
Can I ask about another character, like Lienne de Montsimmard? Character wise, I don't particularly find anything interesting about her, but I'm kinda intrigued nonetheless.
