But with a code!

That doesn't seem to have any problem with assassination and killing a lot of people to get what he wants.  Or smear campaigns, or blackmail.  -_-

Not saying Celene is necessarily better, but Gaspard's honor seems to have a very limited scope.

Agree, Michel would have made a great companion in DA:I. Knowing that Inquisition is all about demons, I would not be surprised if we meet Michel at some point in the game on his search to find Imshael.

It surprises me a bit that the characters people love in these books, at least TME and Asunder I consider to be freaking traitors of the highest sort at worst and just foolish at best.

I'm half expecting to find Michel's corpse in Inquisition on the way to facing Imshael.

Interestingly, the clan was completely right. That's something that tends to be overlooked because they were rude xenophobic jerks, but they should have killed the intruders instead of saving them from the sylvans. Had the Dalish killed them, the clan would still be alive and with ownership of the Eluvians.

Still be alive? Maybe. Till Imshael broke free some other way, tracked them down, and slaughtered them all, anyway. To prevent that, what are they gonna do? Camp out there for the rest of time and guard that circle?

And why do you think they'd have control over the Eluvians? That keeper had been trying to wear Imshael down for weeks (maybe months) on that score with no results. Imshael was only giving that knowledge to whoever he *wanted* to give that knowledge to. And the Dalish that trapped him in a salt circle were not on that list.

Trapping a Forbidden One was a stupid idea and they should have never done it in the first place.

A someone who played with the dalish elf origin in the first game, its kinda sad how the dalish have become xenophobic arseholes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I did find quite a few plot points a little bit predictable but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the book at all (in fact I quite enjoy being right).

I didn't get that impression at all - I hated Briala and Celene at the end and had a kind of grudging respect for gaspard. And we hear the characters talking about how Celene wouldn't be able to uphold her promise, even she herself thinks that (IIRC). Anyway, I will be supporting the elves, although i do hope i still have the option to kill briala.

I hated Gaspard and hope Celene and Briala will get back together in DAI :)

Briala and Michel were turncoats, low character traitors.

Why the hate for Briala?

They always were to some degree. Each clan is different.

Had the Dalish killed them, the clan would still be alive and with ownership of the Eluvians. Gaspard would have found Celene dead and he could have gone back to Val Royeaux as the winner. No civil war, no more elven rebellion.

One has to wonder if Felassan or his boss wanted that too. Well, the Eluvian network falling into Briala's hands wasn't a desired outcome, that's for sure.

Wrong. Had the clan let them go they would still be alive. That group was going to let them be if they decided not to help them. They only helped them to their own advantage. The only reason why they died is that they summon a demon at the wrong time and capture and plan to kill Celene and her group.

I ended being annoyed by all the characters in that book.

Even Felassan.

Gaspard and him kept on giggling at their own jokes , I like funny characters but it got to a point where I felt like throwing the book across the room.

Don't get me started of Michel and Gaspard code of "honor" .

No sympathy for Celene or Briala , either.

I'll try to reread the book at one point , maybe they will grow on me .Who knows.

Briala and Michel were turncoats, low character traitors.

To a person who can't keep their promises and manipulated and betrayed them.(More Briala)

Micheal is all about his code and can't be any less then that.

Briala was tricked into Celene's bed. Celene lied to her for years.

Everyone has flaws. to hate someone because of those flaws is short sighted.

(And who even hates Felassan. That's like hating Garrus in ME.)

What are Felassan flaws anyway? What does he want?Who is he except the cool master guiding Padawan Briala?

Don't know.

Anyway I didn't like the characters in the books , I don't care about seeing them again .And it's not because they are "flawed".They just didn't work for me.

Michel had a chance to end the civil war.  Instead he decided his personal vow and reputation was more important than national stability and the vow he'd already sworn to Celene.

I don't blame Celene so much for leaving Celene, though I do think her plan is ridiculous and irresponsible.

That how all Chevaliers are. You's it's a contradiction but it the end their vow is what they are. You can say the same thing about Gaspard. Many time he could of won his war with Celene during the climax in the book. He even killed his own man to make sure he kept his vow. That just the very ideal to who a Chevalier is.

He's a manipulator and a lier for one. His goal involves getting the elves back into power and getting access to the mirror. He seemed to pick the future generation to do it then the past and die for it.

Michel swore a vow to Celene too.  He chose a vow he made to Briala (With the threat of revealing his origins, presumably to public ridicule) over his vow of loyalty to Celene.  He was going to break a vow either way.  He chose to preserve his reputation over the national stability he could have achieved with Gaspard's death.

The only goal we know Felassan had was getting the Eluvian for his master. Why he got in contact with Briala and why this helps at all with the Eluvian doesn't even makes sense.

All they needed was the password from a demon .(demons Felassan knew)

He doesn't give a crap about Dalish ,and barely even notice the city elf.

This character is only here to interact with Briala , and tomake Briala character more important..And to crack joke from time to time.

Celene did need to get Briala on her side at that point and perhaps she was just lying to do that or perhaps she was telling the truth but would end up getting forced by the other nobles so go back on her promise. But I dunno I thought Celene was being genuine, I do think Celene felt guilty for using Briala when Briala was about the only person who really cared about her but mostly I think Celene wanted to do something just for herself. She'd spent 20 years trying to do what was best for Orlais but no one appreciated it, the elves still rebelled, the nobles started a civil war despite all her efforts.
