you are walking inside a dark tunnel, you suddenly see a light at the far end, if you realize that its not the end of the tunnel but light from an incoming train, you'll be ready!

Alternatively if you saw a tunnel and begun walking down it, completely unaware of the fact that it was a train track in the first place... you're probably not ready...

Depends on who you ask. To summarise:

If you ask someone sensible: Once you feel comfortable on Gold.
If you ask someone on PC: Once you manifest hack. Also weapon stat modding.
If you ask Annomander: Real men play Insanity.
If you ask Megabeast: Once you start 6/6/6/6/6ing and have an Acolyte.
If you ask PuG A: Once you are N7 27
If you ask PuG B: Once you unlock the Adas and the Acolyte.
If you ask Lakook: Once your N7 is over 9000
If you ask Cain or Discipru: Once your friendly enough with them that they will carry you through Thunderdome.

 10/10 blips.

one is not simply "ready" for...nah, f*ck it nevermind.

just jump in OP. the fact that you're even asking makes you more qualified than 99% of the plat pugs out there now.

Precisely.....:kissing:... So, to sum it up, it all boils down to trains, tunnel and light...

Just try and see.

If you feel like you're an annoyance to your teammates, go back a difficulty.

^ this.

On the other hand, it sounds like you're quite comfortable with the ACA.  Maybe try that?  Especially if you can get together a team of other competent Adepts.

Unfortunately, as someone who mostly PUGs, I find it hard to find lobbies that aren't filled with complete trash for Platinum, which is one of the main reasons I stick mostly to Gold.

Man, I totally missed that one.  I hate missing a good BSN drama-fest.  And if it got deleted as opposed to simply locked, I'm sure it was a good one.

The OP in that thread was a superstar that regularily top scored in Platinum using no consumables. He said he could only do that with the TGI/Harrier and was looking for other kits that he could dominate Platinum with without using consumables   lol

BSN disagreed with him ...

Platinum is an over-the-top slugfest. Factions that would fight each other in lore working together?

It's like going to a concert only to stomp around in a mosh pit. Forget the music...

u will only know it, when u are tryin it. For me personally the step from silver to gold was bigger, than from gold to platinum.

There are just more mixed bosses running arround. If u know how to kill Banshees, phantoms, primes and atlasses effectly(Mob anyway), it should not be that prob for you. All that u can learn on Gold.

The enemies can take more damage on platinum, spawnbudget is bigger. But thats it.

Its not really that horror. Take a kit that u are good with on Gold. Even if u are not carrying games, it doesnt matter. Try to carry urself.

And i cant tell you what a lot of people tell here.

Even in PUGs u have very often really good players on platinum. So just give it a shot, use ur consumables and "learning by doing."

And maybe in a month you will come around here, bragging that u have carried some randoms. XD

The only problem I see are carebears.

All others?
Geth as enemy faction are heretics, that have no buisness fighting rippaz, and rippa troops don't have a lot of reasons to fight heretics.
Collectors are reapers.

As soon as you feel like you're ready for platinum.

I went straight from silver ---> platinum , based only off the fact that it pays 120k+ per game and i wanted new stuff !! lol. I failed ALOT at first, as i was still a new player.. , But honestly, it's good to goto platinum early and get a feel for it at least because once you get good at platinum... gold, silver, and bronze will feel like a walk in the park, I personally feel like platinum mode is a great teacher of the games mechanics, I just paid attention a lot to what the other players were doing, how they were winning.. Etc. My real viable entry combo into platinum mode was the N7 Fury & Firebase Giant. I remember that after being carried for a few platinum games i had unlocked the N7 fury, she looked so cool but to be honest i didn't have any idea how to use it lol i had no knowledge of what a good build was, So one day, i looked up n7specops video on how to use it, that was my last day of being carried through platinum, literally, after that ... I started destroying platinum, eventually branching out and learning new builds, and never went back to a different mode than platinum, Loved the challenge, Loved the reward. 5-6 months later here i am, a platinum wh0re . :D

If you are comfortable with gold you can play plat; the only real difference imo is that you encounter the "bosses" earlier in the rounds and you'll also have a "mixed" round (i.e. if you're playing reapers you might have a round that also includes Atlases). Also, play with a character/build you're completely familiar and comfortable with, don't go in thinking "hey I've always wanted to try this" b/c you're going to likely get crushed, unless you're "try this" is the kroguard. Remember to stick w/ your team and be a teammate, don't be a hero. And the most important thing is, right hand advantage. I'd say "have fun" but this is BSN, so it's frowned upon.

For me it was when I caught myself not using cyclonic or shield gear in gold. I also found if I tried to contribute and not dominate I'd actually score higher and stopped taking naps in the middle of a wave. After all you don't score many points checking the grout between the tiles on the floor?

Try it...bottom line play smart and use equipment that compliments your character/team. I've used warp ammo a lot for damage even if not a real benefit to my character. If there were biotics, you prime they boom, makes thing go faster.

Favorite are HM Soldier, QM Infiltrator and QF Engineer
