Too much hassle to play plat if you are pugging. too many lobbies to search through, two many lame games you have to put up with.
When are you really ready for Platinum?

You're one of the few responsible players that only moves up in difficulty until they're ready. Cheers

Just go for it!
I you do ok in Gold just have a go. Equipe all your best gear, level III or IV consumables, and the Character and weapon you score highest with.
I suggest sticking close to the team (not too close) as you can cover each others backs and chain revive if required.
Giant/Cerb or Reapers is a good start and you can camp near the building at the LZ for a lot of the match.
Don't worry about BSN'ers saying that's a bad strategy, it works but it does get boring after a while. If you get good you can start going a bit rambo.
Have fun

I don't really play Platinum much, but from the sound of it, all you apparently need is an N7 Destroyer and an Adas or Striker.
