You know how Shepard is always the basic human unit of whichever class (Adept, Soldier, Vanguard, etc.) you assign to him/her?

Well, if it were possible to change him/her into one of the (Human) characters from multiplayer, which would it be and why? Do you think the story would be affected in any small way? For example, Shepard's life is a lot easier when retaking Omega if (s)he is an Engineer; and certain noticeable bits of dialogue plus parts of certain cutscenes are altered on whether or not Shepard is a biotic.

EDIT: Or if your the mix-and-match type, what would your Shepard consist of?

I think I would choose to be an N7 Paladin, I love the flaming "Captain America" shield. Shepard would truly be defending the American Human way of life! Possessing the electric sword of the N7 Shadow as well would be useful, I could then fight Medieval style.

P.S. Does anyone like the idea of fighting Kai Leng "honorable-sword-fight-style" as an N7 Slayer or N7 Shadow?

I would choose one of the Project Phoenix guys and TIM decided to add a few... upgrades to Shepard during the Lazarus project. It would definitely change some of the Renegade interrupts.

Let me guess, instead of punching the Quarian admiral in the gut, you would bash him with your electric baton?

Absolutely would have been a blast to dual Leng. My femshep would of course be a Shadow and my Sheploo would be a Slayer.

Because ninjas.

Not even in MP, but in SP Shepard is pretty much a 'Soldier', and we just decide how to deviate a bit away from that in some ways (in story and kind of mechanically).

Which I don't love. I'm not even much for shooters, so having a story and game design that is the most focused on that part of gameplay... :(

For SP classes, I'd want to be a true Sentinel. In fact, I'm thinking of redoing my main trilogy run custom Shepard as a Sentinel with bits of blue and green (tastefully done) color on his armor :)
I'll miss Vanguard, but whatever.
(By 'Sentinel', I mean I'd rather be a more 'true' sentinel, the whole concept of using biotics and tech above all else, and guns only as more last resort/full alternative - Shepard and the story concept of Mass Effect 1-3 doesn't really allow that easily, but I predict it will be more of a thing in future games)

For MP classes, I'm thinking Volus Merc Sentinel. And I don't mean being a volus lol, but the skills.

Maybe Asari Vakyrie? Sorry, don't play MP much :)

I like solid and dependable skillsets, just with a bit of inspiration. This is in gameplay but also in aesthetic theme. Like, I may play Vanguard, but I play a VERY SAFE vanguard that only charges when I think I can wipe every enemy out with it.

The same old gameplay is one of the reasons I never find time for another playthrough. I find that vanilla biotic, tech, and weapon abilities aren't varied enough.  Why wouldn't Shepard have more unique abilities?

I hope there is a variety of abilities in single player for ME4.

I like to imagine something along the lines of:

-ME1-3 gradually improved the gun (or gun-like) combat over three games, as the focus
-ME4-6 will gradually improve the exploration, stealth, and other stuff like that over three games, as the focus
-ME7-9 will gradually improve the larger simulation and world-influencing mechanics over three games, as the focus and very vague for now depending on how virtual reality tech goes...
-ME10-12 will gradually improve the series as a large whole, tying everything together, with tech a couple decades from now..
-ME13 (or whatever) = the magnum opus, may as well end here :)

A gamer can dream :)

Right? :)

I still just prefer a human Vanguard. They make unique/badass representatives of human biotics. No other human VG is better than Nova/Charge.

@Streetmagic and ruggly; what kind of vanguard? If Shepard is a vanguard in the game, he is still only the basic "Human Vanguard", which HUMAN character from the multiplayer selection whould prefer him/her to be? And if you prefer mix-and-match, what kind?

@Street, you prefer the standard to the badass N7 Slayer and his Biotic Slash?

I still prefer vanilla human VG to my Slayer in multiplayer. It's not much different though. Slightly different pacing and tactics, but same principles behind the powers. Slash is akin to Shockwave and Disrupter is kind of a ranged Nova blast. If you're forcing to choose something different than VG, then sure, that'd be my next choice.

OK, what about the Alliance Dragoon/Project Phoenix Vanguard and his duel biotic whips?

Lash puts Pull to shame; Lash does everything that pull does, except it's much more violent.

I might try it again sometime, but I don't play MP much (if anything, I'd play it single player). On a sidenote, seems like some of these N7 and Cerberus abilities should have been given to Jack in Armax setup. Just to relate it to fringe Subject Zero research.

Yeah, I know what you mean. With the exception of that one class-specific interrupt in Omega DLC, Shepard never uses his biotic or tech skills in cutscenes, even when 'Cloak or biotic-charge would be a difference-maker in those situations.

That's why I like the Sentinel class. It's grounded. You don't rely on one overwhelming power, it requires skill.

@OP ... there isn't really a very comparable human character in MP to my Shepard. I'd say either the asari or krogan Sentinels are the closest. I use lots of debuffs (Cryo Blast, Warp, AP/Warp ammo from squadmates) like the asari, and I also use lots of durability buffs (Tech Armor, Energy Drain rank-6, Melee Synergy) and play tank in CQC ala krogan.

Pull does have a stronger Biotic Explosion rank.

Keep working to get him, you will like "Smash", and when initiating it, you might find yourself thinking of Hulk.

Adept: add the Fury's Annihilation Field, the ACA's Dark Sphere, the DA's maneuverability, and the Justicar's Biotic Sphere and I'm good

Soldier: a mix between the Havoc and GTS, taking Fortification and Flamer from the GTS and Havoc Strike and Stimulant Packs from the Havoc (could really come in handy on some of the tougher fights on insanity)

Engineer: add an Omni-bow, Cain Mines, Arc Grenades, and Armor-piercing arrows for the Omni-bow and I'm set

Sentinel: Paladin Omni-shield + Flamer + Sub Net + Shockwave + Blade Armor (keeping Tech Armor too) = ultimate Sentinel Shep!

Infiltrator: add Stimulant Pack, Recon Mine, and Arc Grenades and I'm set to snipe

Vanguard: give me Smash, Blade Armor, and the Batarian Gauntlet along with some Lift Grenades and I will have a lot more fun.
