DOT attacks, swarmers and ravager goo aren't mentioned in this article. Playing off host and on platinum fitness does make a difference.billpickles wrote...
This article might help explain the math of why fitness is often not worth it:
http://agreeordie.co...ophy-of-fitness
Bottom line...it will help you more on Bronze or Silver, but once you get to Gold (and certainly in Platinum) there is no functional difference between, say 500 and 825 shields (the difference between full and zero fitness on the default humans).

But if you have tons of cyclonic 4's, then why not skip it?
I do enjoy rank 6 fitness on the TGI for melee/weapon synergy. Throw in the 50% melee damage bonus from cloak and you can easily manage a heavy melee kill every half minute for a massive weapon damage boost

I used to slavishly follow bsn builds until I realised I just kept dieing. I'll never be an elite player, so these days I spec most of my caracters for max fitness, in fact I tend to drop another slot so I can do this. E.g I run the fury and Valkyrie with no passives, the Tsent with no warp etc.
Of course I don't run a zero slot on all builds it depends how I like to use the character, plus I do run a classic melee Kroguard and a shotgun GI with only 4 slots of health.
Sits back and waits for hail of bsn derision for speccing out of warp

I initially had full fitness on all my characters and as time went by and I got better, I was respecing them one by one. I still have it full on about 50% of my characters but it´s no longer "must have"
Certainly nothing wrong with going full fitness if it helps you.

Basically, fitness becomes less useful when you become a better player, get better weapons and gear, get more consumables and so on.

I enjoy playing the characters with maxed out powers (I've always preferred biotics/tech over weapons, even in SP). I've been saving all the Cyclonics I get so I can try different builds.

Thank you everyone for the advice. ^-^ I think I'm still a little inexperienced to try fully melee builds, but I understand the game mechanics a little better. I don't feel like maxed Fitness is making a huge difference over just Level 3-4. Playing characters with high health/shields has formed bad habits, like standing in front of a boss and spamming bullets. XD

Jugg with any shotgun + any melee attachment + all health and shields is an easy melee build to master.

The demolisher. I often spec the AIU and TGI with no fitness too, otherwise its usually 3-4 points, except on characters with a power I skip (e.g. carnage on kroguard) or melee characters.Face of Darkness wrote...
I just don't see any classes that seem best off with rank 6 in all 3 powers and passives, except maybe volus.

True, but draining enemies with Jugg HM doesn't really feel like playing a melee character- I'd say try either the Krogan or Batarian vanguard; vanguards make natural melee classes because you're already at close range most of the time from biotic charge anyways, plus melee characters really benefit from the quick get-out-jail shield replenishing of BC (you take alot of aggro meleeing stuff)... and both of them have good health/shields AND fairly excessive damage resistence, and most importantly, they're both a ton of fun. There is precious little in this game more entertaining than headbutting the snot out of a Geth Prime, or falcon punching a phantom's little pea head inside out.XxproknifaxX wrote...

The link suggested building up to a certain amount of shields (I think it was 900) because anything more is wasted. I don't think I'd ever go without any Fitness, but it's been good to only invest a few points for lower levels. I feel the benefit of maxed powers more than the extra shields. I still don't play platinum unless I've hopped into a friend's pocket for the ride. ^-^

Fitness is awesomesauce tbh. I work out at least once a day so I can get in shape.
Do you even spec, bro?
I'll usually put 3 points in fitness for things, usually powers and passives will trump fitness. If the shileds really need a boost you can toss on a cylonic.
But as Felicia said previously, speed > shields.

Then there's Infiltrators in general, most of which can get by with minimal hit points due to high speed and aggro-dumping with Cloak constantly.
Last there's some casters whose killing efficiency is often best tapped by topping all three powers and squeezing out full power damage, such as the Phoenix Adept and quarian female Engineer.
Truth is it all comes down to practice. As Panda said a Dragoon rush is rarely pretty without much durability, but given time anybody can learn to deal with it. And to be totally honest, a lot of the time the best way to deal with a bad situation is simply get the f*ck outta Dodge and regroup with a teammate who can help or is better equipped for the mess you're avoiding.
