Hi all. I remember hardpoints working on updated slaadi years ago; I remember emailing him a few years back about it, but he seems to have disappeared. Has anyone released updated slaadi?

Im considering fiddling with baba yagas bullywugs and seeing what comes out of it, but I don't think the results would work out so well.

Experimenting now with a retexture of the Q hezrou. Ill keep you guys updated.

Dismal failure so far! I'll take another stab at it tomorrow.

They weren't released to my knowledge. Apparently Hardpoints gave a lot of his stuff to the CEP before he left, but, well, yeah

His ones were modified Troglodytes though

Hardpoints did cool work, too bad he chose to leave. I thoroughly enjoyed his teasers of the centaurs he made

A rough of what I've achieved so far. Not too happy with the textures yet. I'm not a modeler, otherwise I'd get rid of the back spikes.

Here they are!

If anyone with modeling skill is interested in these, I'd like to trim off the back spikes on the slaadi.

I, however, am a bit of a modeller

Is removing the spikes all you want? I could totally fenangle with animations (suh as setting to player anims for the red) or the heads, even add the spikes to the blue if you're up for a collab

Hi Mecheon. Thanks for your interest. :)

The animation set for the 3 hezrou-based slaadi is pretty spot on; they lope about like big squamous apes, which is in keeping with their low intelligence and wisdom. The transformation into the gray is the point where these guys become something less primal. The heads are pretty spot on, both batrachian and menacing.

Upon using these guys, I've come upon a few issues.

1) Those back quills. They seem to just be inserted into the back and would probably be easy to remove.

2) Those big claws for the blue. They'd make the blue look like.... a blue!

3) The gray slaad overall. I retextured baba yaga's bullywugs for this one. It seems he used the sahuagin as a base model, puffed up the belly and gave it a frog's head. The gray/death slaad is leaner; no belly. The head is also a bit too cutesy, mainly those big eyes; the death slaad was tearing up ghaele eladrins in testing, so they're really fierce. The model also uses a custom animation using a giant tongue, which, while cool, isn't in keeping with gray/death slaad stats. One of the big things about those creatures is the 3d6 + stun slam they have, so a more basic animation set would help them. Their weapons animations are basic, which is why he has a bastard sword right now. Id also like to remove the loincloth and nub-tail.

The textures are pretty basic at the moment; I did passes over with color and added some variegation. Once I pointpoint which part of the texture is used for what on the monster, I'll add some more variation in value, like making the back of the blue darker and its belly even lighter, or perhaps even out its skin tone.

Also worth noting is sizes. All of these are the same basic hezrou model resized using invis creatures + tail models. This isn't a problem for me, just something that might not be so apparent upon first glance.

I also have a mud slaad that's just a resized hezrou, and I made textures for a "death slaad" that was darker than the gray, but death slaadi are supposed to look the same as gray slaadi.

Ill toss up the files onto my page on the new vault today, if you'd like them to work with.

Reason I asked about the heads was to keep them using all the same head model. Also the Hezrou hooks up pretty well to the regular Ogre model, and any main supermodel versions

The hezrou anims dont see much use, and work really well. The ogre's anims are commonly used.

Couple of things. First this looks like good work. The second is an apology for what I am about to write. I can only suggest that my water must have been poisoned.

So sorry, but it's the name - slaad. I keep expecting to see monsters with names like the egg-slaad, the ham-slaad, the cheese-slaad and of course the Ceaser-slaad.
