Now that's not creepy as hell at all.

That feeling that is best described as: "I am Shepard" pretty much dies within the first (not last) ten minutes of ME3.

Eh, it'd be pretty easy to make the case that "I am Shepard" died in the intro and railroading of ME2, too.

I still felt "in character" trying to save a comrade; though I would preferred it if the scene involved trying to save that girl with the buzz-cut on the Normandy.
I hate Cerberus, but than again who else would prove to be a reliable source of income? Both the Council and the Alliance insist on cramming their heads up their arses.

I'd be only just slightly less annoyed with the scene if it occurred the same way with Ashley. My battle-hardened Spectre and N7 special operations veteran suddenly forgets how to handle someone getting injured in combat?von uber wrote...
You should have saved ash; then at least bioware would have treated you to a good view of her upgraded funbags.

I realize Bioware has always written military organizations and members as they'd be interpreted in a CW teen drama, but it seems to have gone a tad overboard in this one.
I'd save-edit Ashley in if I didn't have a weird personal objection to retconning my own major decisions like that, and if she wasn't such a ridiculously implausible Spectre candidate compared to Kaidan.

As for the med-bay...you can always RPG the long stare as your Shepard thinking "Damn I should have had <insert VS name> watch the shuttle." In the very least James wouldn't have whined so much about Cerberus.

Romanced FShep doesn't cradle Kaidan. AFAIK, that's only an Ash thing.
Seriously? That made a set of animations specifically for maleShep/Ash romance?
I thought that was for AnyShep/romanced VS [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wondering.png[/smilie]
Yep, the cradle carry is a Ashley romance exclusive. A Femshep who romanced Kaidan still does the fireman carry.

Seriously. Or at least I've never seen it. For all that Ash's content isn't very good in 3, I've always had the feeling Ash was the "intended" ME1 LI. And maybe in 3 too, considering her love scene provides the title for the romance theme.
I'm personally fine with Ash's content in ME3, mainly because it was relatable and it was very human, to me anyway. I've said before that if you go into any sports clubs or your local gym you will find it full of real life Ashley's, having Ashley in the game helped put me in my comfort zone.
We already have enough aliens to provide new exposition, we need normal humans like Ash and James to balance things out, people we can actually relate to, well, I can relate to.

Well, except for Ash's mysterious glamorizing makeover and essentially going mute for much of the second half of the game.
I missed the opinionated Ash who shot her mouth off in ME1 and who said controversialhings.

Will I have more of these ambiguously romantic cut scenes with Kaidan to cringe at?
if you're a homophobe then why did you save Kaidan in the first place?
In my first playthrough, I saved Kaidan as well, for a number of reasons:
1. Shepard had the soldier class, and thus Kaidan's biotics was more handy than William's soldier class.
2. Williams was an over-bearing religious nutjob.
3. ...who threw herself onto Shepard despite the fact that she one or two conversations earlier correctly stated that it was against regulations. Getting out of that romance was HARD.
4. Kaidan had a higher rank: iieutenant > gunnery chief. With rank comes priviligies.
5. Kaidan was the one with the bomb, and protecting the bomb was a priority.
Getting into anyone's pants was not a priority.

The thing is with Ash is that the vast majority of your conversations with her take place on the Citadel, with only one on the Normandy, instead of spread out like most of the other squadmates. You still get three conversations with her after she fully joins up on the Normandy though, my personal favorite being the memorial scene with her sister. Them feels.
On her makeover, that never bothered me, it was expected. As the years passed the tech got better between each game and that meant character models were going to improve drastically, due to old tech no longer holding designers back. Everyone became infinitely better looking, Kaidan, Liara, Ashley and even fricken Sheploo, the Normandy became a ship full of models. It was glorious.

That's amusing; ash's first romance scene is much more intimate than a continuous over the past two games 6-months-since-she-last-mind-shredded-you liara one.
My Femshep romances Liara and it can get so frustrating, you have to reaffirm your commitment to her way too many times. I thought when they fixed that bug where the game didn't recognise the continuation of the relationship in the Shadowbroker dlc that it would all be alright, but nope, same problems as before. It's BS

I feel almost as much in control of Niko Bellic as I feel for the ME3 version of Shepard.

lol.. Is it really that bad? You're almost making me think most romances aren't that great (I have Jack in most playthroughs). Which would be understandable, I guess, since these generally are combat focused games. But still. I figured Liara fans were happy.

Seems like they used the one animation for either scenario. Shep is stressed either because their LI or close friend got hurt, but if you're not close friends or an LI it comes of a really hammy. I remember my femshep had a similar reaction to Ashley despite that not even being an option as an LI.Nightwriter wrote...
My Shepard acted romantically grief-stricken over the VS even though I moved on to someone else in ME2 and preferred that person. What you describe sounds like an accidental romance flag or something.

My Shepard "talked" Cortez into drinking several shots of the "strongest stuff in the house" while in Purgatory, sat him down, then hired an Asari dancer, and told her to, "Give this poor bastard the best ride of his life". And then quietly slip away.
Doesn't work lke that, I can attest to it. At least for me anyway, being drunk just reaffirms what I would rather spend my time...admiring.

Yes it is. It's really disapointing (even worse if you don't edit the lotsb flag). Put it this way, 6 mohts beforehand you have a reunion with her, discuss blue babies etc and reaffirm your committement.
Then you meet on Mars and.. well, watch the start of this.
YEAH BABY HOLD HANDS BRIEFLY.
Compared to ME2:
Where at least you bloody kiss in a quite a nice manner.
