Discuss the new Starz series Black Sails here.

I was quite impressed with the show's pilot episode. So far, my favorite character is Captain Flint and Billy. I also got a nice Assassin's Creed IV vibe from it. The acting is also pretty good. The show is meant to be a gritty true-to-real-life pirate story, so it also serves as a breath of fresh air. So, if you've got the time, I recommend the show. You can even watch the first episode on Youtube right now.

Yeah I saw the premiere yesterday night and ended up really enjoying it. The cinematography is just beautiful, and the actors portrayed their roles pretty convincingly. I also like Captain Flint and Billy as well. John Silver was also good too, providing the much needed humor when things got too "gritty". All in all, I can't wait to see where the show goes from here. Btw Cap, do you watch the show Da Vinci's Demons? If so, what do you think of it?

I walked in on someone randomly about to catch it and ended up watching the premiere.

Interesting is what I think of it.

I was not a fan of Starz take on Spartacus, so I went into it kind of expecting more of the same. Granted there has only been one episode, but I thought it was much better written and acted than Blood and Sand. The pilot episode was quite good, and I'm looking forward to the next.

My favorite characters so far are probably Captain Flint and Gates. (the Walrus' Quartermaster and Flint's advisor)

I'm not sure how I feel about Jon Silver yet. He seems a bit different from the character from Treasure Island, so I'm curious to see where they go with him.

You didn't like Spartacus? That was one of the best shows I've ever watched. How far did you get in the series?

Also, the Jessica Parker Kennedy was ****ing hot:

Just saw the pilot, very enjoyable!

Although I believe the scars of the angry bald guy went from the left side of his face to the right and back between scenes, at least in the beginning, which bothered me quite a lot. ^^

I only got about three or four episodes into the first season before giving up on it.

To be fair I have heard from people who were big fans of the series that it went through some growing pains, and gets much better if you stick it out past the first few episodes. I might eventually go back and give it another go on Netflix.

Agreed about Jessica Parker Kennedy though!

Damn shame! I didn't care for the first episode, thought the following 2-3 episodes were getting better, though not really being all that great, but after that I mostly loved it. The season finale of Blood and Sand still is one of my favourite episodes of any show I've seen.

I loved the following short prequel season Gods of the Arena as well, but Vengeance, continuing where B&S ended, imo was the weakest season by far. War of the Damned was significantly better again, and brought the show to a satisfying end.

You should give at least B&S and GotA another chance someday!

I really enjoyed it. I hated what happened to the quartermaster though.

I have to admit, I lost interest in this series. Perhaps I'll finish it eventually, I'm not sure when given all the stuff I have to do IRL.

tïts, girl on girl action, !D:betrayal of a close fiend!D:!

Without seeing single episode, how much of the series does above cover?

At any rate I'll check it out.

The show started out interesting enough. It was a clusterfuck by the end though.

I'm making my way through the first season right now, and ignoring the gratuitous nudity and sex I'd say the best thing about the show is the main theme.

This show has stepped up it's game like crazy during season 2, definitely outgrown the "having gratuitous nudity and violence seemingly at random simply because we can" phase that IMO cheapened it during the earlier episodes. Visually stunning, the acting ranges from good to great and the characters are interesting. The one thing that kinda annoys me is the clumsy way that they've now several times revealed that characters are actually bisexual whenever it's convenient for the plot.
