I will go see this in cinemas, and even if the film sucks, it will be 200% worth it just to hear that roar on some booming speakers.

Those trailers have quite the atmosphere though, so I have high hopes anyway.

I think a lot of the reason why people that like monster movies don't like Cloverfield is because they think Cloverfield is a monster movie. It's not, it's a love story that just so happens to have a monster in it. That's why revealing the monster was not important. It's not about "monster smash!".

Anyway, to get back to Godzilla, and not a mediocre found footage movie that I know way too much about to an embarrassing level....

Dr. Serizawa from the original Gojira will be in the movie reprised by the same actor. So maybe the Oxygen Destroyer will make a comeback. (And my homeboy Destroyah! In a sequel maybe)

Trailers very, very rarely mean anything. Think of all the films just in the past year or two which had incredible trailers and turned out to be pure trash.

Off the top of my head the last one was Iron Man 3.

But don't be so pessimistic. It's not healthy man.
The film looks promising, the director has promised to not have all the same mistakes that Emmerich did.

Now that is how you make a trailer. The "bwwaaaaas" actually played well with the atmosphere at large, the dialogue was cryptic, and the visuals were jaw dropping. They're really embracing the themes of the '54 Godzilla as Edwards promised.

Is it just me or is there a little distortion right around Goji's mouth when he opens it in that shot? And omg that shot with the jets crashing into the water...

 

The full Godzilla design is just beyond awesome. Take that all you people who said the mouth wasn't "threatening" enough!
