The panels in which Wasp explains it to Captain America make me chuckle every time.

You're now reminding me of Ultimates 3.

Why would you do that? (I'm not overly fond of the Ultimate Universe)

Actual fun fact. Did you know Godzilla is a canon monster in the main Marvel Universe?

Yeah, Marvel had the comic rights to Godzilla back in the 80s. He even fought the Avengers once, and is the biggest version of Godzilla at 160 meters tall.

GodzillaComics_23.jpg

Granted because IDW now owns the comic rights to Goji. He's not coming back. But whatever.

Wow, that was so anti-climatic. Godzilla simply sneezed afterwards. Lol.

Now also related to the film in question.

I updated the OP with the 4th trailer,

also

The figures got leaked.

This is MUTO

godzilla-muto-monster.jpg

Then there's this gorgeous beast!

It's 3 times the size of my 12'' Final Wars Godzilla.

And if you look closely at the neck you can see Godzilla has gills!!!

Do want.

Marvel also used to have Transformers and GI Joe.  IDW has both of those now to.  Don't know about Joe, but Transformers More than Meets the Eye is a thing of beauty.  More than makes up for the crappy Bay movies.

Anyway, I really want this movie.  Only film I'm looking more foward to is Captain America.  The trailers really make it look like Godzilla is a force of nature.  Some nice shots to.

Marvel also had the rights to Doctor Who at one point.

So Godzilla, Doctor Who, Transformers, and GI Joe are all canon in Marvel.

Also IDWs Beast Wars comics are awesome. RazorBeast is my homeboy.

Anyway, this is a thing.

Ah, hearing good ol' Heisenberg's voice in that trailer is music to my ears. Kinda excited for this upcoming movie. Summer can't come soon enough.

So,

I'm bumping this because we need to discuss this film more.

New TV spot.

Now, I've seen a few of the figures, and despite being gimmicky, their pretty cool, defiantly recommend giving to your kids or buying for yourselves.

NECAs also doing a collectible figure,

Spoiler

and I heard 2014 Goji will also get and SH MonsterArts figure.

Now I just need to find that 3 ft tall figure...

Speaking of those figs, I was rooting through some of my old childhood stuff the other day and found an iguana zilla figure.

I was most disappointed with my younger self.

It had an atomic breath gimmick too, which was kinda weird.

I keep a 12 inch one on my shelf to even out the Final Wars Goji of the same scale...

I have alot of Godzilla toys...an embarrassing amount.

And I won't be stopping since I have found a store carrying the SH Monsterarts Millennium Goji.

Fun fact, Godzilla 2000 is my favorite Godzilla suit.

May can't get here fast enough if you ask me. Been rewatching the early stuff original included. Why they haven't released the 1983 version on DVD in North America is still beyond me.

Heisei Era Godzilla movies are just hard to find in general.

I've only found like Godzilla Vs. MechaGodzilla 2 like once and that's it, Vs. Biollante, Vs. King Ghidora, Vs. SpaceGodzilla, and Vs. Destroyah are all really rare.

Whereas I own all of the Millenium Era Films except GMK (Ironic since GMK is in my top 3 Godzilla movies) and Final Wars and some of the Showa era films

Mostly because Toho has yet to make any kind of box set recently, whereas you can find 2 separate Gamera sets that have all of the Showa and Heisei films respectively.

BTW, I highly recommend the Heisei Gamera Trilogy, all three of them are super good and you can find the Blu-ray set really easily.

...Heisei Godzilla is my least favorite suit...

I'm not going to get in trouble for that am I?

But yeah, Fat's the last thing I'd call the 2014 Godzilla, He's bulky.

So the reviews are coming in. And they're all over the place. A 9 from IGN, a 3 from Time, etc.

But I won't be paying much attention to the scores anyway, the content of the reviews suggests I'll enjoy it. After a quick glance over some reviews, it seems like a common complaint is a slow start, an issue I'm tired of people bringing up. Does your average film goer simply have no patience for some decent build up any more? *sigh*

Hell, all the other films I've stupidly enjoyed over the past year or so haven't reviewed too well, (TASM2, Winter Soldier, Hobbit films) so I don't put much stock in them now anyhow.

Winter Soldier had good reviews, and reviews for the second Hobbit were better than the first.

For the "slow start" of this film, wouldn't they think it would make Godzilla's appearance that much more noteworthy?

They did all right, but I personally enjoyed them way more than their average scores, (66 and 58 on metacritic for the two Hobbit films is unforgivable in my mind) which is more or less what I was trying to say. Godzilla's sitting at an average aggregate too, so I'm thinking I might find a similar sort of thing with it.

And yup, you would certainly have thought build up is particularly important here.

Apparently none of these people have watched the original.

Gojira (1954) takes forever to get started, which is a point in that films favor, as it built up atmosphere.

But I'd ignore the reviews, Dai Kaiju as a whole is a pretty abused genre in terms of review scores.

Watched the movie just now.

Movie itself is decent. Could have been much better, could have been much worse.

But if you value your money, don't deign the 3D version even a disdainful glance in its general direction. It's the same as 2D, just in 3D and (at least here) double the price. No special effects, no Gojira screaming in your face making you try to duck away from spittle, no swooshing shockwave from the intro nuclear blasts, no debris seemingly falling on your lap. Nothing.

The best 3D effects I saw tonight was from Disney's Malificent trailer.
