I just really hope we got a hot bear / daddy like romanceable character...its fun to dream ;(

I was tempted once in Origins to use that mod to make Alistair romanceable to a male wardem, but in the end it felt too cheap and unauthentic, so I grin and bear and play a female noble warden xD always my prefered world state, Human Noble Queen with Alistair

btw Eluvianix just noticed you keep changing your profile picture every couple of hours xD

Yeah, I know lol. I changed it cause people were saying he looked too much like Alrik. Anyways, yes yes, and yes!!!!! We need a hot bear romance. I would kill for that. The Grey Warden might be the answer to our prayers.

and If not a warrior's bond or bromance would be just as acceptable, I just hope if he is one he's not one big tease xD

I agree with a lot of what you said.  The problem is that, without conscious effort, most games don't include s/s options at all, let alone s/s only.  So while I would love for your approach to be the case all the time (the characters are created with an intention that includes their sexual orientation), if we did see that , I suspect that there wouldn't be very many options for s/s players.

I really liked how they did it with ME 3.  I don't need to have an equal amount of options as every other orientation, but I'd like to see all of the orientation options in game (m/f, f/m, m/m, f/f) represented AND with options.  I happened to like both Kaiden (probably my fav m/m romance of all time) and Steve, so I was happy, but other people had issues (specifically for Fem Shep).

DA: O failed for me because I find Zevran really off putting but that was my only option as a gay Warden.  My warden wouldn't have gone for Zevran, so I had the option of romancing a character that conflicts with how I see my warden or not romancing anyone at all, which is equally unacceptable to me because:  1.)  I want to access that content; and 2.)  straight wardens got a choice in their romance option.

DA 2 worked better for me than DA: O because everyone got options.  I didn't necessarily like either Anders or Fenris, but I appreciated that I wasn't shoe-horned into a romance with one or the other.  I got to pick, just like everyone else who plays (and pays for) the game.

Again, I'd prefer they go the route of ME 3 with multiple romance options for all players and everyone having a set orientation.  However, given that the rumor is that DA: I is going to have less resources devoted to romance, I have to support the all bisexual approach so I don't feel like I'm getting less content based on my sexual orientation.

Depends on who the writer is. There are absolutely no two people that have ever existed and been exactly alike 100% in history because every little minute detail about someone's life in some way has the potential to color them, change them, affect them physically, mentally, spiritually, and psychologically, turning them into who and what they are as a person.

One writer could subconsciously end up writing a cast of all demisexual pansexual dudebros. Another may end up writing a homosexual character or two along with a few heterosexual characters. Perhaps a different writer would end up realizing he/she didn't write any romantic interests whatsoever and decide to forego them completely.

I'm willing to take that chance and let a writer come up with characters and then discover as they're being written whether they'd be up for a romance with a particular type of person. I would simply hope they're not thinking about me or any other player as they do it, I'd hope they'd be thinking about that particular character and others in their game world.

It is exactly the same as having a character's views on the Mage-Templar conflict alter based on which way you play your character. In a playersexual approach the sexuality of the companion characters is being entirely determined by the player character. The player is getting to choose whether that companion character is heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual. I don't believe the player character should ever have that option. It strains suspension of disbelief.

I'd rather have my player character make a pass at a companion and be told "No thanks, I'm only into women" than have a companion character who might otherwise be a lesbian, shift to "I used to only be into women, until I met you!" just because my player character is a heterosexual male.

Of course there is no right or wrong way to do it when handling the romance options. It all boils down to personal preferences. I just find the playersexual approach to be incredibly lame, and for me at least it strains suspension of disbelief.

That's not really the way it works, though. The characters are all bi, it just doesn't (always) come up unless the player's gender makes it relevant. Despite Anders not showing or describing any attraction to men in Awakening, for instance, Gaider was aware of and did nothing to quash another dev's opinion that he looked like he might be into men. It might look like a 180, but the fact is that Gaider didn't really view him as purely hetero.

I looked up the blog post, and the only thing I got wrong was that it was apparently Gaider who though Anders looked gay. Yeah, the post makes clear they're all bi regardless. Observe.

Well Anders in DA2 is certainly girly enough to conceivably like men. And I don't think elves care about orientation.

I don't think that is enough to base someones whole sexuality on and even if it was it indicates that he likes women which being bi he would. I could understand saying that they changed his sexuality between games if he were gay in DA:2 but he is not - infact as far my Lady Hawkes are concerned he could be straight,bi or gay since they have never romanced him or even attempted too and he makes no real mention of his sexuality unless you romance him as a male Hawke.
It's not like in DA:O were you can talk to Leliana about her sexuality and the fact that she is attracted to people not gender or race regardless of whether you romance her or not.

Don't care about the sex of the characters. I am bisexual so sex of someone has never been an issue.

I would however like more intelligent and smart love interests. Not a big fan of foolish people.

Epic!
I wouldn't mind either, but I suspect it'll be closer to DA2 than it was to Origins.

Fenris's gay romance is much better than its straight counterpart. As it would seem he needs a man not a woman. But that doesn't mean they should've made him gay.

I think make them all bi is the only solution to please all fans

I like character en personality so no don't want love interests all bi.

It amazes me that a bit of naked skin makes so many get up in arms about it but a cheap grab
is prefered by many insted of diversity of sexual orientation because the consequence of rejection looms in the background.

More accurately it'll bring the most pleasure to the most people, since this thread conclusively proves there is no solution that will work for everyone.

Who said it's the most people, from what it looks it seems to split, anyway this pretty much confirms what they're doing

I only hope that it's done better than DAO and kinda similar to ME3

The only way they can cut it up equally while still being more than one option is having two same sex options, two available to whoever and two only interested in opposite sex...thats six companions Having to have a romance only because they cant make all the romance options an option for everyone.
In da2 all you had to do was not pick the heart option in Origins you just had to keep the friendship low.

It wont make the romances more difficult to do just cause certain people cant have them, that depends on how they're written.

Everyone being bi or whatever gives options and choices to maybe do something in the game, everyone being locked away cause of what gender(or race or class) you pick makes for forced choices in order to get something out of the game you want.
Could be lesser of two evils..

As others have said, i would prefer 2 gay options, 2 bi options, and 2 straight options.
That way, people wont end up with the only gay option being a flamboyant elf and a nun as the lesbian choice.

Honestly, I don't care about one approach over the other.

Just give us Vivienne and everything will be fine. :)

Oh, and Scribe Girl too. ^_^
