I agree, but as of your 1) there is already such a thing. Male Hawke can be surprised (in a positive way mind you) of Anders' advances, and the Warden can also show a surprise in Zevrans bisexual attraction to men.

Depending on the exact dialogue used, some of that can be subject to interpretation.

I remember some complaints about Hawke's reaction to Isabela's initial flirt.  Right after her recruitment quest, she made some remark like "I'll be at the Hanged Man, if you want company later", and Hawke reacted with a facial expression.  I personally read that expression to be surprise and possibly amusement at her boldness, but others read it to convey sexual interest, thus the complaints.  They apparently changed it in a patch.

In any case, there are a lot of reasons why a character might be surprised by something new they learn about another character.

Shrug.

No i just Select Warm respons to him almost all the time. Then hi can not hold him self and Atacks/kiss you. And the worst thing is that you can not hit him

The heart-iconed dialogue doesn't mean warm. It means that you're flirting with him. And as far as I recall you can't be nice with him only in the first dialogue. In all the others the diplomatic option (the upper right) is separated from the flirt option.

Normal would be nice.

By normal I mean...
  • Not a blood mage.
  • Not a demon.
  • Not a priest.
  • Not a pirate.
  • Not an elf that might otherwise be acceptable if he didn't live in a house filled with dead rotting bodies.

Isabela was the most 'normal' LI in DA2 which should explain a lot.

Whatever gives characters more personal opinions and views they'll be willing to express, even if time conflicts with what the inquisitors feels, and allows them to have more unique and varied reactions to what the player does and says in game.

Whatever path leads to that happening gets my support.

Lol couldn't agree more but it was annoying at times. Isabela never judged anything you do and I liked it.

I fancy pirates. And I liked Isabela.

But: all of DA2's NPCs were too much defined by a single trait. Fenris: I hate magic. Anders: I free mages. Isabela: Sex!, Merrill: Blood Magic! These characters were walking issues, not real people.

DAO's characters were more natural, they had a mix of traits and weren't so noticeably archetypes. For that reason I liked them better as a rule.

Sort of Agree.

I don't want the same dialog to show up if I'm playing a female or if I'm playing a male.  I want what you said, the characters to have their own identity their own personal opinions.  If I'm being obnixious I'd rather at least one of the romance options tell me they aren't interested.  If the character I'm playing doesn't match then the next time I play my character will match, or not, depending on what their opinions are.  :)

i enjoyed the romance options in DAO more than I did in DA2.  The characters seemed more defined but also a part of it is I liked the characters in DAO more than the ones in DA2, at least the romance part of their personalities.

I don't really expect this though,  it seems the character we play is super charismatic and everyone wants to be their cuddle bunny, no matter how we treat them.

I kind of disagree. I kind of liked that they had something that each was passionate about, perhaps outside of the PC's scope of interest. In Fenris' case, I liked how, as a mage, you could temper his dislike for magic, and he really grew as a character IMO.

DA:O please. It's more realistic, but still satisfying. It might be nice to have me3 style romances, with people outside your squad, too.

I'm more in favor of the realism of having specifically straight, bi, and gay romance options. Cos of A) Realism, and B) It encourages me to do more playthroughs, and helps me come up with more defined roles for all my protagonists.

For example - in DA2, it's possible to romance every LI in one playthrough. I did so, just cos I always do a playthrough where I sleep with as many people as possible, but that character always ends up being a bit schizophrenic cos I basically have to roleplay a different person to get every LI to like me.

But there was another playthrough where I decided my goal was to romance Sebastian - who is the only straight LI in DA2. That playthrough's Hawke had ended up being a very specific personality in order to win his affections - a personality I honestly never would have played if it weren't for that goal. Had Sebastian been bi-sexual like the rest of them, I would have just done the same thing I did with Merril - sleep with him in my "sleep with everyone playthrough" and then dump him for Isabela.

Similar thing happened with Morrigan - I usually don't like playing male characters, since I myself am a girl. But it was basically the desire to have the experience of her romance and all the Dark Ritual goodness that come with it, that made me play as a male character and experience the game from that perspective.

But Bioware seems to be pretty much be set on the whole - all companions are bi-sexual thing - for both fairness and economy of resources. So I've basically accepted that that's how it will be.

Where's that picture of Sandal lounging on the bed in his smallclothes? Someone find that, it would fit this thread.

And that's just ONE romance option!

But seriously, all Bi. As long as it's believably Bi, not conviniently bi.

I was going to say I wanted it like DA 2, but then I read your reply, and realized option C was far, far better.
