Batguard maybe just as effective if not moreso.

Both are tanks, both are pretty good at it. I like the speed of the Batarian though. That four eyed bastard can move in between CDs. I use the Raider on both or the Graal but I think the Reegar is probably good on either.

Depends. When you play with good teammates, survivability isn't really important, which is the only thing the Kroguard has on the other Vanguards.

Adept: Fury (build)
Soldier: Geth Trooper (build)
Engineer: QME (build)
Sentinel: Asari Valkyrie (build)
Infiltrator: GI (build)
Vanguard: Kroguard (build)

N7 Destroyer, Turian Sentinel, Alliance Infiltration Unit, N7 Paladin, N7 Slayer and Talon Merc also have a huge damage output.

Geth Trooper and Asari Valkyrie builds are not the ones I am using, but they have a better damage output.

I know you mention him as a runner-up below, but there is no way the Kroguard can out DPS the Slayer.

No. Way.

Out survive, sure.  Out DPS...not a chance not no way not no how.

Just the other night I outscored a highly experienced player using a TGI Harrier by 100K with the Slayer.  And I suck...the Slayer is just that good.

My Kroguard got bored of headbutting already decapitated heads back in the good-team-days. It's very cool, but sadly not something that makes your DPS go through the roof :crying:

I spec incinerate on my Krosent then we play put out the fire with the Graal and our headbutt with a little lift nades mixed in. Incendiary glitch, melee, lift nades on the same kit with a ****ing spike thrower firing while I heavy melee? All of my yes.

I'm sorry man, bit if you think that any vanguard has not enough survivability to render the more survivability provided by the Kroguard completely pointless, then you still need to learn a lot about this game.

The Kroguard's very noob-friendly, I'll give you that. But the OP didn't seem to ask that, to me. And in a full team, if the player is decently experienced, then the Kroguard is actually the least damaging of all vanguards.

The DrellGod is king. And not only in the vanguard sector...

Kroguard's also very lag-friendly, for those who can't host yet like to charge now and again.

But I agree, when speaking of DPS potential he's down at the rock bottom with the Brawler. And the Volus might be there too.

Aye, sorry. Whenever someone speaks about vanguards I assume he's hosting, as I never play them off host. Might very well be completely different off host, I have no clue about it

And yeah, those 3,are by far the worst vanguards. The only thing that makes the Kroguard the worst is that his charge CD is longer.

I occasionally feel adventurous enough :P, but I still don't use Kroguard for that. I usually do well with AV, she's not quite as lag-dependent as Slayer and Drellguard, as both Stasis and Lift Grenades work well from a distance, the dodge is great and even her shields are borderline useful aside from shield gate. But I definitely have to adjust my playstyle to a more soldierlike to match the lag, which makes the first couple of waves rather embarassing at times...

I didn't say he was the best, I said he's nothing to laugh at when having Incen. Reegar.  That uptime just soaking in the damage while melting everything is not bad.

Huh- I love the HE but I never really feel the high DPSness of it. Please explain? I'm map aware. I know the maps like the back of my hand so how am I HE'ing wrong?  Knowing me I probably have a bad build + poor weapon choice lol

Ignore the drone.  Avoid the neural shock evolution of overload at all costs, as it makes headshots very difficult.  Arc pistol with incindiary or disruptor rounds, piercing mod, and power magnifier, use a power amp, pistol amp, an either stronghold or engineering kit depending on your confidence.  Alternate between incinerate and overload, taking headshots inbetween.  Run around like a chicken wit your head cut off.  Lots of explosions, lots of things dying.

Area incinerate and chain overload are better for DPS, as you can make multiple explosions using them, or go with them both set up for single target so that you don't screw up everyones BEs.  I keep one engineer specced each way, and switch between them depending on what the lobby looks like.  I default to the single target one when searching, for the sake of dropping into in-progress biotic teams.

I don't play much platinum but I'm guessing the single target version is more effective there due to the powers having higher damage, letting you drop bosses faster.  On silver or bronze, the chain version is probably better, due to stunning lots of mooks.

Yeah, if the only weapon you use is a reegar, then yeah, the kroguard's the best. But if you allow other guns, then... The uptime becomes trivial ;)

Oh and... DrellGod > Slayer

No but seriously, the Slayer's awesome too. He's always been my second love  Funny, I remember when he was considered trash by most here... But that was before the most unpredictable and ridiculous balance change Bioware ever made

If you want pure DPS, casting the drone is a waste of time.  The more time you spend casting the drone, the less time you spend making explosions.  The only use is for distracting Phantoms, but incindiary/disruptor ammo combined with overload makes very quick work of them anyways, and renders their anti-power bubble useless, provided no one else activates it before you use overload.
