Depending on your choices, he can live or die if you decide to cure/sabatoge the genophage.

Only difference is he has to die somehow - you can't talk him down and get him to walk away, like you can with Mordin. Padok has his 'destiny' for his place in the universe, in a way.

Although it physically pains me to say nice things about ME3 (just kidding), I respect the development team for actually putting in the effort to create a likable character that most players will likely never see. He's a very touching character and I suggest at least playing one game with him, he was done much better than a certain VI substitution.
There's a reason why even Bioware lauds their own performance with the Genophage arc. I have a feeling that's because all other parts were rushed to at least some disruptive extent, including even the (still good) Rannoch arc.
Genophage arc is what happens when everything clicks.
I guess what I'd want more is more designed cinematic outcomes for betraying the Krogan (the ending of Priority: Tuchanka looks way too optimistic for what you do), and a little more reasoning for doing so. Not because I particularly care for it in my main playthrough, but because it felt a bit annoying being almost outright preached to about the virtues of the Krogan without much to counteract that (except Wreav being around, maybe).
But I can see why they might have done all this, so its cool.
So yeah, again, genophage arc put in the effort and it shows

Yes you can talk him down like you can with Mordin. I've done it a couple of times.SwobyJ wrote...

You can talk him down, he sends you a letter saying he'll retire as a farmer and take the secret to his grave. Only difference seems to be that, unlike Mordin, he doesn't become a war asset.themikefest wrote...
