Despite it's problems, I ****ing loved the journey. If you stop trying to nitpick and just enjoy it - it's fantastic.

ME is my favourite universe in media!

But, who's going to lecture you on heroism now!?

He spawned disciples, and there will always be someone out there to lecture about classical heroism.

Give it time.

Not for all of us.  If I had know where the destination was, I'd have skipped the last game and just replayed Me1 and 2 as individual games not involved in a series.

It's like the joke:
"What's worse than biting into an apple and finding a worm?"
"Biting into an apple and finding half a worm"

The ending was half a worm Image IPB

Had this happen when I was a kid, fresh off the apple tree, very pretty on the outside.  Very unpleasant.  Now if it's from the apple tree I cut it open before eating it no matter what it looks like.  Too bad I didn't know I needed to do this with Me3.     :)

My journey was sort of turned sour as I was presented before the Hero Sacrifice Machine and told Space Cyber Jebus needed to die in order to save/control/merge with the galaxy. Emo Neo Matrix quality ending(s) right there... So dark... So edgy. Man! Shepard died for our sins! That is like sooo deep bro!

I think the worse part was recalling my time playing the original Deus Ex and that the ending choice I picked in that game in 2000 would be the exact same one I picked in Mass Effect 3.

David has disciples?

What a mad, mad world.

That only workds if you really care for the characters, which in my case was only five characters. They failed big time in ME2 with the so called character focus.

Welcome to every story ever written?

It's like saying ME1 only works if you like the main plot. Obviously some people don't like the main plot, so in their case, it's not a game worth bothering with. Case in point, your stance on ME2.

Why is it so easy to work people up over a video game? I will never understand how a mediocre sci fi shooter video game, can cause people to create an existentialist discussion about whether or not something is defined by its conclusion or overall actions in life. Essentially bringing up a moral conundrum on what is or isn't good, and how something can be judged with any form of legitimacy.

In the end there is no game on the market like ME.

True.  And hopefully it will serve as a cautionary tale so such a game is never made again

Devs need to develop more space rpgs.

Also true.

Good ones, though.

I can't let this blasphemy go unanswered.   You not getting your way does not mean the ME franchise is not a great space rpg franchise.  There are other space franchises but none of them let you interact with the univetse the way ME does.

Blasphemy. He's one of the OGs of sticking up for ME3. He was doing this long before David came along.

Eh, I bet arriving in New York would have been lovely, had it actually arrived at its planned destination.

TOR is also an MMO, so that's not exactly fair. It'd be like saying Final Fantasy XI has a deeper story than other numbered FFs.

And I am tired of people like you not giving them any credit at all

Exactly,  it is a bioware game.  In fact mass effect was inspired by the original kotor.
