Well, but keep in mind that the only reason people were upset as they were about the ending is because they cared so much about the trilogy as a whole. If nobody liked the trilogy, they wouldn't give a rip about the ending. That said, I think the complaining about the ending is a little overdone; yes, it could and SHOULD have been done better, especially at making you feel like your choices mattered (sort of the theme of the whole game, which just went out the window at the end)- but it wasn't that bad. I actually sort of like the ending; the whole sequence with "an end, once and for all" is about as poignant as a video game gets.smeggins773 wrote...
Even though the last ten minutes were dissapointing, the trilogy as a whole was very satisfying to me. In my opinion probobly one of the best scifi epics ever created. BioWare gave us something special and it really pains me to hear everyone just complain about everything. Yes the ending was kinda bad and lacked explanation or closure. The masses cried out and bioware accualy went and spent time and some money to expand on these endings. How many developers have accualy done that? It really makes me love bioware even more. Yes the ending was still not great even then, but at least they tried. But i guess some people are just plain addicted to complaining. Remember when the original star wars trilogy ended with a blatant deus ex machina? Remember how that was hailed as a scifi masterpiece? I believe mass effect will go down in history but sadly not for the reason it should. Everyone just bashed it out of the gate and forgot all the time and characters they spent all that time getting to know and love. It was a wonderful journey that for me was not spoiled at all by the ending because all the great stuff outweighed the bad. Its just sad when the majority can just give up because of a blunder. And yes there have been many to write and create there own endings. Some of them are very good to:). But just remember that this is not call of duty at least. Anyone can agree that this trilogy is far superior to that tripe.
Also, I'm completely with you on the EC endings; I love that Bioware did that, even if they ended up being just sort of a drop in the bucket. Not many companies would do that, since the series was already successful and they didn't stand to gain a whole lot by spending time and money on free DLC ending-updates.

You're trying too hard. And really, I don't. But thanks for asking. Literally no depth comes from playing with others.o Ventus wrote...

focusing only on the destination leads to disappointment. haha like so many who post in the forums who after so many months are still angry. they'll never get it.

Pretty much. The shaking of my head comes not from the assumption itself but because I have a hard time thinking he's joking. Like, he might genuinely believe Steelcan and "people like him" hates everything BioWare.Greylycantrope wrote...

That's probably why we keep giving them money, because everntually, we think BioWare will just go away if we pay them off.J. Reezy wrote...

Call it out crazy or stupid or pointless or irresponsible, but if it didn't happen people might of been okay with what Microsoft was going to give us originally with the xbox one. Some of the games that we enjoy today since ME3 have probably been changed by the developer before release based on fan outrage.
Gamers took a stand as consumers, something that hasn't been done before and the mass effect 3 ending and possibly the game was the last straw.
Also more on topic, I'm a screenwriter and the Journey is important but where your hero ends up is also important. One means nothing without the other. 12 steps of the Heroes Journey.

And they're also aware of the easiest way to silence that shouting by stalling, using PR gimmicks and subtly collapsing the united fan front and turning them on each other by promising what appears to be a solution, but in essence changes nothing. Oh and they get free rep as "listening to fans" to boot.GraphicOps wrote...
I loved Mass Effect but we need to look to the one positive that came out of this ME3... The outrage changed the face of game development. Companies are now aware that Gamers (Their Customers) will boycott and will shout loud and will do things when they feel robbed.
We are aware that their answer to all our criticisms of the ending was a glorified slideshow and a few lines of dialogue right? Kudos to all the artists, programmers and voice actors who made it happen, but for all the problems the ending has, it's nowhere near enough.

The journey made the game great, the destination sucked. I don't get how you can turn those two around.
So you played 3 games that you didn't like to get amazed at the last 10 minutes?
It is about the journey mostly, but if the destination sucks, why journey there?

I love the journey of ME1 and ME2. Loved it. When I say the journey sucks, it's that ME3 stripped away what I liked before.. especially ME2. I had a hard time adjusting to it, long before the ending. By the time the ending came, I was ready to finish anyways.
edit: By the way, I'm not here to bring anyone down or gripe too much. To each their own.
