PATCH 6.80, NEW MOON FESTIVAL EVENT
January 27 - Yesterday, a new post on the Dota 2 blog revealed the next special event, the New Moon Festival. While details are sparse at the moment, it appears that players will have the chance to do battle with the Year Beast, who will yield new materials for crafting, and a rare courier for those able to defeat it the quickest. Today's blog post revealed the next hero to be released, Terrorblade, with his arcana item being made available on February 6. A new game mode will also be implemented, Random Ability Draft. Players will be assigned random heroes, with each hero's ability being added to the pool. Players then take turns picking abilities from the pool. Finally, the changes in patch 6.80 have been revealed. You can read both Terrorblade's skills and the new item/hero changes here.
WHAT IS DOTA 2?
- Dota 2 is a free-to-play competitive MOBA (multiplayer online battle arena), based on the popular WarCraft 3 custom map Defense of the Ancients. You can download the client here. Note that it requires the Steam application to play.
DEFINE FREE TO PLAY
- All playable characters are unlocked by default, no cash or grinding required. Money can be used to purchase custom couriers, aesthetic items for heroes, HUDs, announcers, and wards.
