Making obviously "Evil" choices

I'll close the Veil tears and defeat the big bad, but give me the option to play as a character doing it for personal gain of some sort and not for the good of Thedas.

Also since somebody brought it up the war between the Qunari and Imperium is more stalemate than anything, plus its highly unlikely in the numerous times they've each traded off Seharon that the imperium hasn't captured enough craftsmen to have their blood mages draw the secrets of gunpowder from them. Also I have my doubts about the qunari even inventing gunpowder, since in hundreds of years they appear to have made no further progress on gunpowder weaponry.

Well doing something for sake being evil is reason as well:whistle:which pretty much serves amusment unless someone follow evil as ideal in fiction were such examples...

Eh "Evil" options are only fun if they can be justified pragmatically or if they're so insanely over the top that it goes right into hilarious.
This.
Though a lot of "evil" choices end up being nerfed for one reason or another. No impact, fear of backlash, etc. Sometimes a truly despicable choice should be present, if only as an option.
I'll also say that murder being the only "evil" choice we're presented with kinda gets a bit dull. Solving everything with a blade is just... uninteresting after a while.

Well, somebody brought up a point that I needed to debate as a mage, so I dropped Templar mode for the moment. I shall go Qun again tomorrow.hhh89 wrote...
Agreed completely. Andraste and the Chant stated that mages shouldn't rule or use blood magic. They said nothing about how to treat mages.eluvianix wrote...
Andraste was never the problem. It's the interpretations of others that starts problems.
Though I have to say that I prefer your Qun mode. Your Templar mode isn't really convincing.
You understand the true path one must walk in life then, kadan. However, we cannot abide your wishy-washy nature. You will report to the Tamassrans for re-education, immediately.

Yeah, Bioware dropped the ball with that in ME3- even playing full renegade the dialogue, especially auto dialogue was all "save earth omg Imma guilt tripping on that kid JOKER HOW DARE YOU MAKE A JOKE" and that was really weird with my 'I don't care' renegade shep who's killed innocents for getting in her way.
I really don't wanna see that forced agenda in DAI

Fun fact, Obsidian (makers of Knights of the Old Republic II) calls these "evil" choices (selfish, like extortion) the "Knights of the Old Republic 1 Dark Side option". That game had some hideous ones. Although, the later games by BioWare were must better in that regard.

Evil choices are good because sometimes people do evil things. They act out of hatred or anger or greed. Not everything is making tough choices for the greater good. Sometimes people are just jerks.
And having evil choices allows my nice characters to feel good for not taking them.
Some of the best KoTOR evil moments are those just evil times. When you run off the muggers early in the game....only to mug the victim yourself. Deliciously fun moment. Still...
I agree with people who want "smarter" evil choices at times. I want to be able to help the sick peasants IF there is a greater reward to be had or it helps me amnipulate an outcome I want. I don't want to have to be a jerk to everyone i met because it shows I'm evil. Sometimes, evil is charming and polite.
The problem with evil is usually it is the opposte of good in actions as opposed to in motivations.

Oh look, let's kill a guy for the fun of it!
Meh...
Or perhaps doing something that makes no sense just because it's "bad."
Nah...

You know, if the protagonist acted like it was for fun it would be much better, but the protagonist always seems pissed and angry and worked up when such choices are selected. If it's for fun, the protagonist should be all sarcastic and smile/laugh while slaughtering someone.

I thought that ToR did a pretty good job at the evil choices. Especially as (amusingly enough) a Sith Inquisitor.
NPC whimpers too loud at my SI
"You dare look at me funny?"
<zap!>
+10 Darkside points.
That was a lot of fun. It was so over the top and ridiculous. She was having a damn good time at her job. I don't agree with KainD often, but I do here. It would be more entertaining if the protagonist looked like they were having a fun go at being so bad, rather than just grumbling and/or looking pissy about it all the time.

and as proof of your loyalty you will have to kill someone innocent(or someone who made such minor crime so it should not be punished by death)

yep i hate when playing skyrim and whole time i feel like slave
greybeard:"hey dragonborn go and kill that blackdragon"
dragonborn: "since i have no other choice then ok"
and in final your only reward is npcs using new coments when your near
harkon:"we will put this world into darkness...blah blqh blgh"
and no matter what you will do still there is no apocalypse
i want something like "together Harry we will rule the world"(yes i mean that weak mage from Orleais)
and you will say "i will kill you and rule by myself" instead of "you have murrrrderred my family and now i will kill you"

Also, yes to more Murder Knife. While I miss the Butcher Blade it was in DAO, I am fond of the elegant form of DA2
