& i don't mean half-arsed like ME3 was with its 2 token femshep trailers. Id also like seeing both male & female PC's of different races in the marketing to show off the different type of characters that can be made in the CC like a female elf rogue or a male qunari mage rather then just focusing on a human male warrior only. (im not against human male btw, just bored of it always being a human male getting exposure when there's other choices)

In closing, it would seem like such a waste to ignore the different options on offer simply out of fear of alienating some game fans that ain't likely to buy the game anyway.

Yes please! The sausage fest for the PC in the games has gotten more than a touch old. I'd love to see a lady in the promos, and not just a token trailer or two. Oh and a race other than human would be good. I know a lot of players choose human, but a lot of us have selected elf and dwarf too. Where's their love?

I find the idea of including the Female main character in trailers, solely to show a female really shallow, I'd rather have an equal representation showing all possible races and sexes. Like they could simply show multiple situations throughout the trailer and different MC dealing with the situations in their own ways.

I don't want either inquisitor to feature strongly in any form of advertising because of the multitude of races plus male/female. that's 8 different types of people we could have. I would rather all shots of the inquisitor be vague as to their race and gender.

Is what i would like too, seeing both different races & genders would be better then having the same male human character only while ignoring the other character choices.

Agreed. BioWare need to get the word out that race selection is back. (Obviously all of us know, but people who haunt the forums nine months before release are a tiny minority of the potential player base.) I got into an argument with someone in my local game shop the other week when he complained that Inquisition was only going to have human PCs. While it's not a feature most players used in DAO, ''make any kind of character you want!" is still a good selling point.

I propose a trailer specifically showing off all the races and classes and both genders. Especially female dwarves and qunari. Not that I'm biased or anything.

Well, I've got some good news... B)

We will have a female character and a male one that we use in marketing. As to the box, we haven't decided what's on it yet.

I feel like showing off the customization aspect, especially in race, class, and gender choice will attract more new players than pretending it's a game with a fixed dudebro protagonist. I personally will pass on a game if it has a fixed dudebro protagonist and if I hadn't played DA before I'd be missing out on a series that really appeals to me because of slanted advertising.

Do you have lots of money?  Then no, unless someone at Bioware with money to waste feels like it on a whim

With the right talent I'm sure a quality female trailer could be done nonetheless

@Peer Read Hrungr's post. It looks like they are going to include a lady for the trailers and possibly for the box art. I'm not advocating for one gender over another. I would love to see both genders equally represented. I try to ignore the "dudebro" protagonist I usually see in most advertising, but it has gotten very tiresome.

And have her be a woman of color.

David Gaider made a blog post about this recently

http://dgaider.tumbl...-all-the-things

To me this means that asking here is going to fall on deaf ears because the people that read these posts already know people want it.

Sorry, I have no idea. Mike has been asked this at previous cons, and has said he (and people further up the line, presumably) are interested in having a greater female PC presence in things like trailers, but I personally have no idea when that would manifest, or how.I believe they’re well aware there’s interest in giving the female PC some public love, and I personally think there’s also benefit to advertising the fact one can play as female (as opposed to assuming everyone out there already knows this), but that does require the iconic female model to first be ready to go. I guess we’ll see?

Would be good showing screenshots of different customisation options like this.

Why not just let bioware do what they will do? Sure we'd prefer different things in the trailers, but could we stop with the slamming? Anyone who has an internet connection and an interest In video games knows about the abundant amount of manly protagonists in trailers. All I hear is a dead horse being beaten. Would like to see each possible race/gender combo shown off

Someone once suggested a really great scene of the Inquisitor fighting, and has he fights the camera pans to show a different gender and/or races. For example, the standard Human Male Inquisitor charges at his enemy with his sword held up in front of him slightly to his left, then the camera pans to the left and on the other side of the sword is the Human Female.

Then more fighting and maybe she gets out her bow, pan to the other side of an enemy off to the side of the camera, then an Elf Inquisitor replaces the human, stillsholding the same bow in the same pose. S/he downs an enemy, then pulls out a huge ax/hammer to deliver the finishing blow. Close-up of the monster getting platted in one blow, then the camera pans up to a dwarf glaring down at it, then the dwarf goes back to fighting more. Etc. Etc.

I think that would be great equal-opportunity marketing. Showing that not only are you playing a badass main character, but said character can be different genders and races. It also easily shows how many choices you have.

It looked to me like he was asking for more choices in the trailers, not asking for the exclusion of women. He also wants to see more of the customizations in the trailers for all genders/races. I think you misunderstood. He wasn't being misogynistic.

In closing, it would seem like such a waste to ignore the different options on offer simply out of fear of alienating some game fans that ain't likely to buy the game anyway.

From what I can tell, he was referring to the possible game fans that would be upset if a lady hero was in the trailers/box art vs the average SWM.

Neither do I but for some reason on these forums it is considered misogynist to suggest a female appear as the face of DAI marketing campaign.

Never claimed to understand some of the wilder assertions on these forums, I am just trying to fit in.

They make femshep trailers and they're labeled token, they don't make trailers and they're sexist. How can bioware win, exactly?

Wouldn't boycott, just find it boring if 95% of marketing is the same human male only when there's so much more options to go with it.
