Ah now Starsyn is saying Japanese games are just for horny men, that generalization yo!

No, I'm not.  I was assuming that was an M rated game ad being linked.

I am saying that if's an adult rated game, than it is being marketed towards adults.  Since it appears to be an adult Japanese game with some sexual undertones, I'm guessing that's it's for adults.

What is the game anyhow?

Otherwise, I know what most kids what see in that ad.  Two girls sharing an ice cream cone.

Well to be fair, DAo trailers showed both genders and race, no reason for DAI not to when the fact that races coming back is a big thing.  Why people want a female only trailer though makes no sense, just do a combination trailer like DAO, DONE.

What a impresive 180.

And that assumption is just wrong;)

Sousuke Aizen? What are you doing out of your eternal prison?! D:

And to answer your question -- Asking for representation of playable female characters doesn't hurt anybody, yo.

I never said that, so nice try.

Also, really? We're insulting others cultures now? And by the way, that game sells in America. Good job though.

What game is it?  I have no idea what you just linked.  I had no context, and you implied it was sexual.  I know certain things are different in Japan, including how sexuality is approached and what is considered okay.  I wasn't insulting anything.  Thanks so much for putting words into comments that weren't there for me.

It wasn't an 180.  I was clarifying my point, since I had no context for the image I was shown.   I was told that M rated games advertise to young teens.  Then I was shown this picture.   What was I supposed to think?  I admitted I was assuming and mistaken.  Given the discussion, I thought it was an example of an M-rated game being marketed towards a teen audience, not an ad for a children's game.

That said, what game am I even looking at?

Nah, not at all. A trailer featuring a few seconds of someone flicking through the CC screen, or something like the 'Reinstated' trailers would be fine. It doesn't have to be a strong ethnic woman stomping on a white male mercenary's testicles, though.

Oh stop it. Now you're just being privileged. XP Of course we have to have a strong ethnic woman castrating a wbite male with blunt force trauma. Otherwise how will we ever be able to discuss this issue honestly and opeing without oppression?

I can't tell if this is serious or not. I'm using similar logic to what you used, because "Cultural differences."

Now would be a good time to stop talking. I mean an hour ago was too, but now is a really good time to stop. Calling any game from Japan as a ployto get middle-aged men is an insutl, just incase you didn't know. Also I'll keep in mind that Pokemon is not for kids, it's for middle-aged men before I go buy my sister another one. What was I thinking? And Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Metroid? What was I thinking?

So what's wrong with the white male lead again?

This is not, by any means, a trick question.

What's wrong with showcasing the diffrent races and genders liek in DAO? This is also not a trick question.

It's a waste of money. Nobody even paid attention to them. Not a significant number anyway. In fact, adding the race option back into the game is a reward to the 12% in it's own way, because they definitely were not intended to be there from the start.

A 'Meet the Dwarf,' 'Meet the Rogue,' ripping off completely what TF2 did would be kind of cool. Give some of those characters ****** and we're all hunky dory.

I don't think DAI needs a female or a male face to advertise the game. Anyone recognize this warrior?

Posted Image

Or this knight?

Posted Image

How about this?

Posted Image

Point being, the game above went from an obscure dungeon crawler to one of the most recognized modern RPG's on today's market without having a visibly defined gender as a marketing tool, a feat I'm more than certain BioWare can emulate should they choose to (although it is a bit late for that all things considered).

You can easily tell the gender of all of those pictures you just posted. You don't need a face for that.
