As long as a character is included for reasons beyond apeasement of fans, then the inclusion of the character is legitimate.

As I said before, I think that Cullen has reasons for being in DAI, and there's room for an interesting character development. That's regardless of the possibility of him being a LI.
I personally don't care, considering all the possible companions we heard about, who will be the LI. I'll be fine either way. I'll be happy for those who want to romance him.

Umm can anyone guess Cullen's age when inquisition starts? Shouldn't it be 40 or something?

Mid-thirties. He was probably 25 or so in Origins, and it has only been a decade since then.

Bsn enlightened me that everyone who wants romances and generally to discuss charatcers is a perv and that discussion must be killed with a fire.

The thing is though, most of the time it isn't discussion.  RE; the character threads that are 80% or so Deviantart/sexypictures and general squeeing.

Want to throw meaningless numbers? Then why not 100%?

I heard he was 24 or there about in Origins, so he should be about what? 35-37ish

Why do you think I put "Or so".  It's not concrete, it's an estimate.  If you want to get huffy and puffy about it, I'll be more than happy to oblige. <_<

10-11 years passed from DAO to DAI, right? So he should be 35, if not younger.
I actually thought he was younger than 24 in DAO.

He acts pretty young at the start of the game in Origins - the tooset puts him at 24, though the toolset ages aren't necessarily reliable.  +10 years for DA2, and enough time for Cassandra and Varric to have spent time together, say 1 year, and we could gess at 35

It's only been a few months after DA][, I think. Not a year.

Doesn't the tool kit state the age of all the characters, or is it just with a few specifics it does so?

I remember that a dev said tha the toolkit didn't state the age of the characters but something else (maybe the age of the VA?). I don't remember when or where I read it though.

I'll  vouch for the age of the VA.  (The age in the toolset was there for the VA, but I can't exactly remember what for.)

The toolset does seem to give everyone an age, though the very minor characters tend to get rounder numbers.

But it's apparently more for voice casting, and certainly isn't canon.  We know Alistair isn't 32, for example.

I agree that I like all of the male LIs for DA, ME is also pretty except for a few exceptions though
*Cough*Jacob*Cough

But dem abs doe!!!!

But the PRIIIZE? I didn't know there's a small fine print saying the prize may cheat on you. Hopefully they don't have similar scenario in DA. It would be a bit annoying to have no control over your LI cheating. It make you feel like you choose wrong. Don't even get me started on Thane.

Thane - one of my favorite LI and really I didn't mind the death.  It turned my Shepard into someone who had nothing to live for and wanted Joker & Edi to be happy so she picked synthesis.  Jacob however, I hated Shepards tone when she talked to him the first few times, I turned the sound off.  The romance itself was ok but when I found out about his action in Me3 I deleted the Me2 game exactly because it made me feel I had made an error in judgement.:(

Quite frankly, if there ever was a group of fans who I (or anyone else on the DA team) would include something just to make them happy, I think we'd lean more towards the "polite but enthusiastic" than not. Just saying.

I like this approach.

And if it has the side-effect of making fans err on the side of being polite and enthusiastic, that'd be great.

(Instead of, I don't know, grumpy, rude and relentlessly negative)

Yeah when I found out about the Jacob "romance" I was seriously appalled for his fans. Luckily the DA writers have promised to not retcon any of our previous romances (or have our LIs "cheat" on us).

Even if he didn't have a dedicated fan-base, I still think there are justifiable reasons for him to appear again (as a companion or not).

Not if you don't like him. If you don't like him then, even if you don't know what the story is, there's no justifiable reason for him to return. If he did, you can already tell he would be boring no matter how he's written.

This is why I stop paying attention to character discussions fairly early on. ;)

The templars very existence is a joke inflicted upon them. Their "holy" powers comes from getting high on a drug. Their outfit has to be the ugliest plate armor introduced to the gaming history especially the bottom part.
There is no requirement to be a templar, any bastard can apply, get indotrinated and addicted to lyrium and start being a templar hence the abuses. Murderes rapist joing Templar ranks without any resistance.
They think their god the maker is on their side, blind the truth that its their god's fail first creation (demons) are the enemy not mages. The maker either doesn't exist or is the most cruel god in history of man.

Thanks but no thanks. The templar personality can be shoved back to where it belongs. We had no real templar companion so far (Alistair doesn't count) and it shall remain that way. Amen.
