As I said, I don't care if Cullen is a companion. But seeing those type of post make me want him in the party just to ****** off those people.

Thanks but no thanks. The templar personality can be shoved back to where it belongs. We had no real templar companion so far (Alistair doesn't count) and it shall remain that way. Amen.

Well, I'm glad you're not in charge. Image IPB

Meh, A templar in party? Cullen? OH YES! We will upset him any chance we get, ****** on him. Deny everything that makes him happy. Have sex with him and tell him he was a terrible love maker!

The safest route for Cullen is to be an Agent not companion. Possibily an NPC romance as well like some ME3 characters.

I have nothing against Cullen personally really. But I hate Templars. I chose the mages by process of elimination. I simply hated the Templars more, I didn't like the mages either. I'm more pro Anders than anything and it sometimes forces me to support mages as well, meh I don't care really BUT I HATE TEMPLARS.

This probably won't happen but if it does omg <3

EX-TEMPLAR CULLEN! Like Alistair! Please make it happen Bioware

I don't get why it'd be the safest route.

I think people forget that they can basically ignore them

Lol that way Cullen is untouchable and always there, is not safe?

I hated Fenris's gut but I never gave him to Danarius or killed him or not recruited him. I rivaled the **** out of him, but I kept him. I watched what happens if you give him to Danarius on youtube, couldn't bring myself to do it. I brought the mouse pointer on the decision, stared at it for like 5 minutes and couldn't do it. I recruit and keep all companions but I actually like that they don't agree with me all the time and are only in party because they respect me but hate my guts, like Fenris. It makes the game more real.

Quite frankly, if there ever was a group of fans who I (or anyone else on the DA team) would include something just to make them happy, I think we'd lean more towards the "polite but enthusiastic" than not. Just saying.

I like this approach.

And if it has the side-effect of making fans err on the side of being polite and enthusiastic, that'd be great.

(Instead of, I don't know, grumpy, rude and relentlessly negative)

I agree.  politeness should be encouraged any way possible.   You can disagree with people without being rude, grumpy and negative.

Kind of petty, don't you think? Plus, I think his Sword of Mercy would be quite the powerful instrument.

Yeah me too.  Though I would like the option to pick and choose who we want to have join us.  I found Zev very satisfying for this.  Human Nobel killed him because he attacked her, human mage let him live because she was naive.  The elf let him live because he was an elf.

Companion options I'd love to have - be able to not even ask some, or tell them to leave or kill them if they attack. I'd have a group filled with just mages or mage supporters, another filled with just templar supporters and one with a mixed group.  fun stuff.

Me, too.

I don't care all that much whether characters return or not.  Above all else, Bioware excels at creating interesting characters, and if they see an opportunity to bring one back in a meaningful way, it's nice when they do so.

Now if Alistair came up, said swooping is bad, then ran off while making airplane noises, I would call it fan service.

:wizard: I support this fanservice.  Immersion breaking? Certainly.  Non-sensical?  Definitely.   Hilarious?  I think so.   But only if he makes the airplane noises...otherwise meh.

This isn't a character discussion, unless that's been going on in the last however many pages. I responded to the initial post, based on my observations of the forum to date.

Thanks for your feedback!  It was unexpected. :D

While it's no secret the Chantry is more concerned with strong arms than pure hearts in their recruitment, there's no evidence that they allow criminals into the order.  I also highly doubt the abuse is as rampant as you imagine, but I'd rather not get into that.

I didn't understand you meant that. Though being an NPC doesn't mean he can't die.

Eluvianix: It might not be your style (or mine,) but there is a simple reason for that. People like to roleplay different mentalities, and sometimes pretending to be a heartless bastard in a game is cathartic.

Discussion with Rassler is almost, keyword almost, tantamount to discussion with Kommander. It ends up just being stupid

Lol more like heartless at templars. I'm probably going to worship any mage companion introduced to us, especially if they are a male mage :pinched:

Have you once witnessed me discussing anything with kommander? My inner Grammar **** begs me to end its life. I have yet to see a topic in which me and Kommander agree to the same thing. I mean honestly, do you see me agreeing to someone who wants to kill all mages.

Hate to be rude, but arguing about fan service in a video game, is like arguing about fan service in any other medium. All it's going to do is become a war where fangirls/fanboys vs. the pple who hate them, and 9 times out of 10 the fanboys/fangirls will always win..simply because the devs/writers will add anything that will make anybody happy no matter what.

Honestly, I don't see the appeal in Cullen, he seems like another Alistair/Anders type character to me, but who knows he may actually be decent.

Heavens no! I kinda doubt it will happen anyway. The worst scenario is named mage will want peace, I don't think a sane mage would want to back to the old circles. Start a war, people die only to go back to the old system? I have no problems with mages being under control but the circles are not coming back, at least not in previous fashion. A new method needs to be introduced.
