Obviously were not getting a toolset or anything like we did with DAo, but since there were little to no mods for me1 do you think it will be more of the same with me2? I know the problem comes basically from lack of tool and support, but do you think modders will have better success with me2? could we see some kind of tool released by bioware in the future? what are your thoughts?
mods for me2?

I think bioware stated that they werent releasing one somewhere. I could be wrong though. Regardless, we didnt get one for the original me probably because it was an xbox game ported to pc. BUT since me2 is being released on both platforms together we might see a little bit more support?

i am staunchly against modding ME2.
1. there will be no toolset (dev confirmed a long time ago) and modding ME1 was impossible enough
2. having the 360 version, i am heavily bias in not wanting there to be more content ill never have.

No mods and especially no toolset.
UE3 licensing, corrupting game saves, etc.
Mass Effect trilogy will have no modding/toolset.

Yeah not gonna happen for ME2 (just like it didn't for ME1). Main reason being it uses unreal 3 engine. Various licensing issues with that... plus it's a friendly unfriendly engine for modders to work with.
Dragon Age is different cus Bioware made that game engine from scratch rather than buying one. When you make your own game engine it's very easy to make it moddable for the community.
Bioware did one better and gave the community actual tools to work with, rather than leaving us to futz around with our own homemade tools like most games.

I agree with this guy, if the pc version got a toolset I would be overcome by jealousy, if I cant get user created content then nobody should
However the only reason I am getting ME2 on Xbox 360 is because I got the original Mass Effect on Xbox 360, otherwise I probably would have ordered the PC version.

I think the reason for the lack of mods was so that the save games could be used for Mass effect 3.
I really love being able to mod games and they add a lot to the re playability.
But I understand why they did not for this one and it looks like Mass Effect2 will have a lot of re playability as it is.
I ask that you release mod tools for Mass Effect 3 as it is the last in the trilogy you don't have to worry about invalidating the save Games. I think it would add a lot to the game, something like the cerberus network but for user created content, even if you could only add new systems to visit and do N7 mission on, leaving the main story planets.
I don't think that UE3 licensing should be a problem because the
unreal 3 has a lot of mods and epic have released UDK allowing people
to make free standalone games.
So devs if you are listening and I know you are please have mod tools for Mass effect 3, or at least think about it.

Talking PC Version here:
Um what if you mod the ini files of ME1 for asthetic changes? Will that corrupt the savefile?

You mean BIOEngine, BIOGame, BIOEditor etc? They won't have any effect on your end game .MassEffectSave.

Yeah, those are the ones. Thanks I feel better now.
Got tired of blue background blocking subtitles so I changed their color.

Who cares if XBOX players would get jealously really?
The sense of a PC-Game is modability in my eyes.
I will not buy this game because it's unmoddable. That's the only reason and I'll never get it for my XBOX either.

i guess texture mods like "all nude nude" would be possible, since such things onlu require change of texture/model files and doesnt affect game mechanics/quests.
